Best Buy (in canada...) has an offer in their newest flyer where you get 128mb of "ddr" for free after rebate. ($49.99-$14.99 instant -$35 mail in rebate)
I'm thinking of picking up a couple but I want to know if they'll be any good at all. If you know anything about the chips on the pcb, or have had an experience with the ram please post.
in the catalog the product code is listed as 10018317/128.

I am aware that I'd have to run them in 3:2 but they would be useful on an older setup. Plus it'd be kind of fun to run crazy volts through them.

Also, the sooner the better, as I got the flyers early due to my sister being a deliverer, and the sale starts tommorow. :D

thanks!

update: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=302037&Sku=K43-1900&CatId=147

found this, don't know if it'll help, because I deffinitly can't read the writing on those chips.

Edit2: Did some photoshoping, almost positive they're infineon chips datasheet ------> http://www.infineon.com/cmc_upload/documents/040/515/128M_DDR_1.pdf

Looks "decent"

Went and got the ram yesterday. Got 4 sticks and the only thing is cost is the tax on 44x4 :D

I was wrong though, it wasn't infineon, it was this stuff ->
http://www.moselvitelic.com/frames/frame_products.html

This stuff is nuts. The supposed pc2100 goes EASILY to 200mhz at 2.55v (I didnt bother testing with 2.5v)

Right now I've got 2 of the sticks in there running single channel
On turbo, with "strengthened" @253mhz fsb 5:4 @2.65v (I have a feeling it could do it at 2.6v but I'm trying to burn them in.)

So far its pretty insane price for preformance :D :D

Oo

I picked up some Kbyte PC2700 up at bestbuy a while ago when some guy hit 217 with it and it was only like 30 bucks :O Mobo died so I havent got a chance to test it yet. New moniter and benching tommorow tho :D

Ah, moved the ram from 1 and 2 to 2 and 4. (abit gave me a board with a 3rd slot that won't work properly on an rma:rolleyes: )

and began testing in dual channel. It got a bit more exciting
This is with Turbo, and enhanced on @2.65v

not bad whats the tightest timings it can run?

why's the bandwidth so low on it?

cuz of his timings

I have some Kingston ValueRam PC2700 (166 2.5-3-3-7) that runs at 200 2-2-2-5. The chips say Kingston but they have -60 so I am assuming they could likely be relabled BH-6, because of the way they act.

Didnt test higher because its in a P4PE so it has to use 3:4 ratio get high mem speed.

I went back and tested the timings. This stuff is deffinitly not bh-6/5 its some weird mosel stuff.
I can boot at 180mhz 2-5-2-2 but it errors in memtest86 and often will boot up but display no videofeed to my monitor, meaning its probably not working. This screenshot is with
Turbo, strengthed, command per clock on and trcd set to 6 @2.7v
The other stick gives me attitude around this speed, so I'm going to have to see if one of the other sticks will do this.

you want to "burn them in" at 2.6v? :D
try 3.6v ;)

You'd think at 223mhz you'd get at least 5gb/sec... 4.4gb/sec is like 166-175 mhz territory.

Yeah absolute stock at 200 for me is like 4500-5000 range...

Yea, I wasn't really "burning" them in, but apparently their "maximum" is 2.7v

I took one of them up to 233mhz with turbo, enhanced and command for clock on at 2.8v (3-8-3-3) and it was running error free in memtest. I then decided I'd try street racer :D the thing went ape§§§§ on me and when it was just about to load memtest a bunch of funny charcters appeared on the screen. After that I decided to pack it in for the day and go back to my 1 gig of ram.
Strange though, after my 'adventures' I can now run turbo on this ram.
I would have been testing with 2 sticks but 1 stick tests a lot faster, 1 pass of memtest takes 1:23s so its a lot faster to test.
Hoping to do the VDD mod on this board next weekend.

Think the reason for the crappy test scores is that the ram doesn't really want to go that high, but I'm not sure...

Not really sure why a mod moved this, as it was about pc2100@3700 approx.

Don't think anyone really cares, but with about 2.9v turbo, cpc, and enchanced on they're doing this > I only wish my 4th dim slot wasn't dicked up by abit because then I could use all 4 sticks at once.
