I need a PSU for this rig:

P4 2,4C
Abit IC7-G Max2
2*256 OCZ PC3200 Platinum
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
2*36GB Raptors in RAID0

I have been looking at Antec True480, but wouldn't the True480 be overkill for my rig?

Get yourself a Fortron 530w from newegg, cost is about 70 bucks. Has all thre pots inside to change the voltage, many people have had great success with that PS.

Overkill or not, if you plan on overclocking its always best to have a few v's to spare :)

Agreed.

If you can, PCP&C 450 or 475 watt PSU are VERY good.

The Super Flower units with 12cm or 14cm single fans are also of interest (at least to me), should be extremely quiet. 450w with the 14cm fan is $65.00 at Directron. 12cm single fan 450 watt unit is $50.00 @ Directron.
The best Super Flower though is the 550 watt with single 14cm fan for $73.00, also at Directron, or also at Circotech. The 550's 12v rail is rated at 30A so should handle a lot.

I think that any Antec would be OK.

A Fortron Source(or Sparkle) 350w or 400w power supply would be fine with that system.

Best part is you can get them for $44 or $68 delivered direct from NewEgg.com. ;)

1. PCP&C
2. Fortons are very nice, I would take them over pcp&c for the price
3. ttgi superflower

Are sparkle similar to forton? Do they have 3 vr's in them? Do they have stable voltages.

What's wrong with Antec? I am thinking about replacing my crappy Q-Tec 450W with Antec TruePower 480W or 550W.

You have to do a vmod to adjust the rails, and if you want more than 3.15vdim you will usually need to raise the rails. On any psu you will probably have to mod the rails to get them to the prime voltage.

Fortons are cheap, and are just as stable as antec, but with vr's controling all 3 rails. I couldn't possibly suggest antec over forton, ttgi, or pcp&c with my experiences with them all.

I recently got enermax coolergiant and in love with it. Best control of voltage fluctuation I've seen yet. (Maybe their separate 12V rail do really help) Probably less noiser than PC&P.
I reckon anything not too Xtreme will be fine with nice PSU like fortron too though.
BTW, this one is lower wattage model (385? 375?) but I prefer it over Antec True power 550 I have on 2nd rig.

I also say get the Forton. Newegg went up to $85 for them though :(

I would get a Fortron (as much wattage as I could afford) but my second choice would be a higher wattage Antec TruePower. Or if I was filthy stinking rich PC Power and Cooling.

(Basicly do what everyone else said. :p: )

Are sparkle psu's the same as forton?

Either most or all models are the same, just re-branded. You can look at the part number on the Sparkels and if there's FSP then it's Fortron.
