The whole big idea using smart, it to prevent data loss and extend data on drives.
We know smart tech is start to be used more then 1gb and beyond, per drive.

Now at this point smart has some limits such as bad proken sectors limit.
I came to idea that actualy works for me, and fiew others is to programm drives in case. If your using 4Tb drive, you can programm drive to have 3.50Tb drive space, after you format it, you get 3Tb space, then after fiew power off's and on's s.m.a.r.t. is working by moving and marking bad sectors with testings. Bad sectors are replaced with drive free space, and more

4Tb(whole drive) - 500Gb(free, not registered space(good for smart)) = 3.5Tb - X (Your your Particion, full size, with Format)= 3tb.

There arent many tools to limit lba sectors value on drives, we know once drive start to fail then is broken. But, if your in need to have extra space for smart size, then now you may have good way how to start your extending your work.

Enjoy

Has anyone tried the 18 gig Atlas III drive? My 4 gig viking works well with PT. I need more space. Anyone have any info on these drives? Thanks, Craig
