Guys, I bought two 290x vid cards for benchmarking and a bit of BF4 but I have hit issues. I will tidy this up when I wt home as there is a lot of typing involved but summary as follows:

1x HIS - stable, no issues
Fit gigabyte for CF - black screen after a few mins playing, have to reset pc to get picture back
Test Gigabyte on its own- same issue- RMA for another one that seems to work fine
Swapped new Gigabyte on local forum for Asus 290x
Fit Asus- all seems fine
Now the Asus does the same black screen crash
Swap HIS back in and no issues, play BF4 non stop
Swap Asus back in - black screen crash again

Guys, is this another RMA job? I would be seriously doubting the rest of my rig if it wasn't for the HIS running nicely ...

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really sorry I went to AMD at all, Ti looks very attractive right now.

Edit: I should add that the Asus is the best clocker of the four and all stability and game testing was done at stock clocks, uber mode, fan locked at 50%, temp well below 90c and no throttling evident. Also, the crashing doesn't seem to occur in window mode, only full screen (2560 on ultra).

Are there revisions already? I haven't tampered with it or flashed it .... 3D11 runs through fine, but I doesn't like gaming ....

have you tried other games? 3d11 is not a good guage as it does not run for extended periods like a game would

If you put 60-70% fan, games crash too ?

Uber mode is 55% fan AFAIK.

Yes, it crashes at 70% fan, stock clocks. I have been approved for RMA.

I get black screens too even stock clocks or overclocked and that's just in simple fm3d benches.
It does not happen all the time but enough to pee you off you know? Fans speeds make no difference at all and bios both stock 1's and modded bios is all same crap

Seems like there is an easy fix for this, at least it worked for some guys. You just have to set the "Maximum Fan Speed" slider to 100% in ccc's AMD OverDrive.

Hope this helps.

People have been posting about the same issue on ever tech forum on the web. I started a thread in the news section with some links.
