Couldnt figure a better place to post this..
On my NXP-201 there is a component that is obviously toast just by looking at it.. which renders the 3rd fan channel useless. I asked my dad if he knew what it was.. and he identified it as a triac, but he said he wasnt 100%. I have done some reasearch, and a triac is similar to a transistor, it switches on and off very quickly so that the current that passes through it is in very quick bursts, so you get lest current. IIRC, this is the meathod this fan controller used to control speed, so it makes sense that this component is a triac. My problem is, i am not positive its a triac, as i havent seen one like it so far, and even then I do not know how do identify it for replace ment. Attatched is a nice paint img that shows the general shape, and has all of the markings in the exact same order.
