This thread starts again with a little more direction. :shakes:
So I’m in the process of building a smallish server for home use and looking to purchase a raid card, but this market is crazy with small differences, and then factor in used/1gen older cards, it is pretty much impossible for me to figure out what I want without a doubt...
Here’s system specs,
-Thinking this will be starting array
2x 250GB Raid 1 (Boot Drives / Main Board)
4x 3TB Raid 10 (Storage / RaidController)
-NO SSD
-preferably 6gb/s
-BBU? Hopefully.
-PCI Express 8x (largest card I can fit, also have the huge 64-bit 133MHz PCI-X)
-2x SAS(mini?) ports (I have space for 2x Supermicro Hotswap Bay 10x 3.5 Drive / Possibly 3 but I never see myself having +10 harddrives)
-Decent big name with support, no "highpoint" etcetc.
-Not more than 400$ (preferably something can buy used +/-$300)
-Not looking for something really really fast just reliable and file server worthy only running single link network possibly two after a while, essentially a giant nas.
-no perc cards
Kinda looking at
-LSI 9211-8i
-???
