Hello,

I got a 3TB hdd and as the title says, in bios its detected as a 801 gb hdd. In windows everything is cool, I can see all of the capacity available.
My question is, is it a problem that the bios is seeing only 801gb? Will it cause any problems inside the Windows environment?
Note: I'm on latest official bios, my motherboard is p5q pro.
Thanks,

I have a p45 mobo (asus maximus 2 formula) and I'm planning on getting one 3tb drive too, so i'm also interested in that. What windows are you using 7 or 8? I believe that if you don't plan on booting from this drive you won't have any problem, but i'm just guessing here. Did you email asus?

I think if it works in Windows and you can see all of the 2.72TB of storage, its a simple error in the Bios software. If it works don't fix it!

So far I have no problems really. I'm using Windows 7 and the drive is a non-boot drive, it's also set as GPT.
No I didn't email Asus and I'm not planning to :)

It's a limitation of bios, fixed in uefi.
