View Full Version : Areca ARC-1231 ML NEEP HELP PLEASE!!! how to connect LEDs to SUPERMICRO CSE-M35T-1B

Hello folks
I've got an issue with Areca ARC-1231ML 2GB onboard memory 12 ports
I just spend a few days how to set up and pull it run with SUPERMICRO CSE-M35T-1B hdd cage

my system
Asus Rampage extreme X48
Intel Pentium Dualcore E5200 2x 2,5GHz
3x 2 Gb Mushkin Redline PCe-12800 6-8-6-24 1.65V
Zalman CNPS 9900
Asus Geforce 8800 GTX - 768 Mb
ASUS Supreme FX Soundkarte
Tagan TG600 W PSU
Lian Li PC-P80 Armorsuit case
SUPERMICRO CSE-M35T-1B
Areca ARC-1231 ML 2GB raid controller card
7x Western Digital RE4 2 TB (WD2003FYYS . want to run it in RAID 6
Windows 7 x64 OS

i don't know how connect five LED wires for HDD activity to the Areca ARC-1231ML controller

The reason why is Here again is the RAID card for this workstation. Here's me: on those two 24-pin headers...

card is actually wired for 24 drives, but this one's only the 12 drive model

So how to connect it? if the card is wired for 24 hdd but it really is have only 12 , because is 12 hdd model

and second you can watch on the wires for HDD LED and it has 5 wires with different colours also it has a numbers of it

A closer look at the accessories. It comes with SATA cables, screws, labels for the drive trays, and a lead to connect the backplane LED's to the activity leads on the RAID controller.

Please somebody can help me to resolve this problem
I spend about week and can not to find anything

i want to build my small server for HD content for home use

can not to finish because don't know how to connect it properly , the LEDS

or i need to buy different hdd rack?
Please help me with this, need a reccomendations from experts. as i'm new in this area

I don't have my manual with me, but I believe the HDD headers are actually sideways (pairs of two). The one grey wire you have hooked up is basically connecting the positive (or negative?) pins of 4 different sets of headers.

What you'd have to do is bust out a needle, and rewire the connection block you got with your HDD cage to change the wire arrangement to be in the sets of two. As you have your pins circled, it would be 1 top and 1 bottom pin to each set. When you group them like that, you notice you now have headers for 24 HDDs :)
