View Full Version : Phillipine 2.53's arent all that great

Well, the screenshot below would suggest otherwise, but this is a very poor 2.53... I had a Malay one 2 days ago but couldnt keep it... it went much better than this thing... it will NOT do 3 GHz with the stock cooler. It'll boot windows, but any serious benching is a no-no already. Damn.
Things improved when I stuck it in the prometeia, but still...

Its stable enough for light benches, but 3Dmark will fail at 3400 MHz. I'm not sure it runs at 3350, but probably not much higher than that anyway. No terrible disaster, since I wasnt going to keep this CPU very long anyway, just thought i'd recommend getting a malay instead of a phillipino ...

Thats some good info to know. Kinda sucks though :(.

How much voltage did you have to use?

What info would that be? If you get a Phillip p4 shoot yourself?

still 2.53 to 3.4 is a pretty good overclock.

Sorry if this was mentioned but was it B0 or C1 stepping? Seems the 2.66 and 2.8 like low voltages....

hmmmm

This reminds me of the Celeron 366A's. Only the Malay ones ever had a chance of hitting 100FSB / 550Mhz, the Peurto Rica ones only ever managed 83/ 457 Mhz.

Guess which one I had

Regards

Andy

Creative :
It was a B0 stepping. The store had 3 of them, all the same pack dates etc...

JF,

any word on wether I can swap the CPU at PCC when they get a load of new ones? Just wondering.

Thanks for that. Jupiler :)

Im just deicing whether to get a 2.4b or 2.53b for the short term and then get a 2.66 when prices come down...or just get the 2.66 now and stuff the old B0 stepping. I want C1 dammit :p
heheheh

guess its not bad, 900 MHz extra out of a 2.53...

yeah, 3Dmark at 3420-3450 is pretty good for a 2.53 I think, cant really complain there... too bad the multiplier is a bit high for 3x mode memory :(

I'm not going to keep this CPU long I think, its just for testing and messing around a bit.. i can sell it at the price I got it (or more ;)) so its all for fun. Tomorrow or thursday my R 9700 will be here so I can do some modest benching. 3.4G isnt thÃ:banana:t slow yet I think

oh hell, 3.4GHz, 180FSB, & a 9700 will make a mighty nice score I'm sure ;)

Hopefully I get a good 2,53GHz :)
Maybe I should contact the store and see if they got Malay's ;)

I also hope to reach the 3GHz with that CPU...watercooled it can't be that difficult I guess...
