Hey guys, I need some decent backup software:

The software must run over a network (remote backup location)
The software must allow me to select what I want backed up
The software must be able to do an initial backup followed by incremental backups
If a file has changed, it must not be overwritten. Old copies must be kept in case a file has to be reverted to an older version (think revision control)
The software must allow me to select how many older copies I want
The software must allow me to schedule backups

I need a piece of software which meets ALL requirements, can anyone recommend anything? :) The cheaper the better :p:

I have used Cobian Backup previously. Its freeware and works fantastically well.

I think it covers everything in your list. Only one im not sure of is how many older copies you want.

I personally use Oops!Backup.
Have been using it on 3 systems for about a year now and not a hitch.
I backup from local system to local network share. Not sure how it works for remote location back-ups.

Besides that it covers your list.
You can select how long you want to keep deleted files.
And even how often you want a full copy of a file instead of an incremental.
So for example 1x full copy, 25 incrementals, 1 full copy, 25 incrementals, etc,etc

Altough for incremental back-ups I believe it will only do incrementels for files larger than 5 MB (you might be able to change this setting, but not sure)

I think though that you will only be able to set the amount of time you can go back and not the amount of versions.
So for example 3 months (up to unlimited) instead of 30 versions.

It aint free, but not that expensive either.
And you only need to pay once if you don't want updates.
(first year of updates come with purchase).

Shadow Protect by Storage Craft http://www.storagecraft.com/

I have been using this for 5 years now and it is server class backup imaging and recovery software that is honestly the fastest most flexible and reliable solution in the industry IMOH. You can run Shadow Protect Desktop ($90.00) in tandem with there Image Manager (FREE) and it will allow you to create and image chain of One Full Image and the rest Incremental Images and you have the ability to schedule the collapse and deletion retention policies for all images . Trust me this is a very Robust and awesome Server Grade Backup and Imaging solution and it is uber fast as well.

Been using Acronis True Image for years...never an issue, but then again I'm not running a server.
