Hi-
I troll this forum daily and finally need some advice. I can usually search and find any answers I need, but have come up empty on this issue. I was running a XP1600 @ 1980 on a KX7-Raid, 2 X 256 sticks Samsung CTL, GeForce 4 TI 4600, SCSI RAId with 2 x 36gb 15,000 rpm cheetahs. All on water, D-tek Spiral, Eheim 1250,
DD GeForce cooler, etc., etc. Nothing phenomenal, but a decent machine. RAM is good to about 208 on moderate timings (2,6,2,3, Q depth 2, 1T )
I decided to give the P4 a shot seeing the success many members here have had. Bought a IT7, and a 2.53. Will overclock to 3ghz on stock air cooler (DD Maze 3 cover on order-I 've got too many blocks just sitting here!).
My problem is this: This thing is a dog- Sandra mem bench is like 2359\2356-- It will occasionally hit into the 3320 range, but rarely.
Here's where I'm at: latest bios 08/02/02, FSB@ 158, CPU volt @ 1.6, mem@ 2.7v, 2,5,2,2, enhanced dram on etc. Intel chipset drivers, App accelerator on WIN XP. CPU temps @ 49~51c (seems high)
Are these mem scores normal ?? I'm starting to think maybe I got a bum board, but not sure...any advice is gratly appreciated !!!!!

Yea-me either :toast: , but I'm trying!!
I just thought the bandwidth would be higher- not really complaining.
I noticed if I set the HW strap to low and 3:4 my Sandra scores are about 3340......maybe this is the problem ??

Ya, I don't know much about the P4's, but I know that 3:4 ratio is the way to go if you can't hit the high FSB's w/ ur CPU. @ 158FSB and 3:4 ratio, I believe you have your memory runnin 211MHz :)

1:1 mode sucks and you will strugle to get over 2700/2700. Crank the ram to 3:4 mode and you will get the bandwidth...:)

Thats all you need to do, thats why its good to get good ram for the intels cos you can use the 3:4 divider :)

Exactly what he said ^ :). With the 3:4 ratio and an FSB of 158 MHz, your RAM is running at roughly 211 MHz versus 158 with the 1:1 ratio, that's why your bandwith is so much higher with 3:4

As for your temps, don't worry about em. Many people report ridiculously high temps with the IT7, I'm included in that group. For example my system temp is always at a nice 38-40C w/ the IT7. I can't get a reading above ~26C anywhere in my case with external temp reading equipment.

Thanks for the replies!!
I'm starting to like this P4 stuff....I got to play with this thing a bit more, but you guys took some of the pain out of this !!!
