So, lads... what controllers are you guys currently rocking?

I've got an LSI 8265-8i. Managed to do some serious damage with 8 Patriot WildFire drives... :D

that is a good setup, i love the 9265-8i, and have actually had the pleasure of rocking some benches with the wildfires as well. really a great combo :)

My biggest complaint was actually that the 4K performance took a pretty significant hit once you went past 4 drives...

9260-8i with 8x Corsair Force 120GB RAID0 with BBU and Fastpath add-on.

Stripe size is 32kB, but I'm actually not sure if that's optimal...

I spent countless hours screwing around to make sure Fastpath was on and then messing with different stripe sizes, different queue depths, it was not fun and I do not recommend it. But in our testing we did find flaws in other people's reviews <3 :P

yes it can get frustrating testing something over and over and over. What flaws did you find, improper settings?

FastPath doesn't really do much difference if you don't do high QDs.

The LSIs on FP loves QD > 32 up to 128, 4-8 drives (SSDs) should be sufficient to get the most out of FP.

Have any of you found a controller that can do > 2.4GB/s or better a system that is capable of > ~4.5GB/s? Basically that's what I'm trying to break through (on westmere/ dual IOH SM X8DTH-6F). I am using just HBA's (LSI 2008 chipset (the 2208 was not available at the time) but am making up for it by using 7 of them.

From my basic math, should be able to reach ~8GB/s though am butting my head against a wall. So far haven't found anyone really pushing past the 5GB/s line.

5GB/s? Can you give the platform, where the cards are located, QPI & bios tweaks if any you had to set, etc? I've only been able to get >~4.5 when using ram disks. If that's two cards that's showing full 24Gbps each it looks like.

This was done using a 980x 4400mhz @ gigabyte x58 OC MB. Using 2 of the x16 pci-e ports. No special tweaks, but I think the Areca 4GB cache did most of the work :p
Still it is fun numbers :)
