Yes I just hit my personal record with this barton 2500+ @ 2.5Ghz! And it is with aircooling.. And it is with a fan at only 32db.

I have a max load at 56°c after many hours of prime.. And it takes 1.925v to do it in the bios but it undervolts to 1.87-1.90v

So im happy for now:toast:

Thermal Paste = ???
Go for 2v :)

Do you think that 56c is too much for an amd on air? What do you think the max temp on a barton is?

My thermal paste is Artic Ceramic.. I thought of buying some Artic silver 5 but I dont know if it is worth the effort?

By the way, 2v is too much for my cooling, and I am happy for the 2.5Ghz for now:D

Going to get some sleep now.. Job done!

how is a 900U letting yoru cpu get that hot!!!

my barton at 2500mhz and an AX7 got to a max temp of 48, with fan turned low, with fan at a more reasonable speed for that high vcore i got about 40°... 56 is kinda high.

my f chip got to 2.6, not by my hands tho

wow that chip could reach 3ghz in a prommie! above 2.05v they get a nice mhz boost again, only if they are cooled well enough of course...

I dont know why it gets so hot, i have a very thin layer of artic ceramic on.. I have a Enermax Adjustable fan pushing like 50cfm or something like that, I have an ok airflow (2*80mm in back pushing 30cfm each, 1*120mm in front pushing 98cfm but it is on 5v so i dont know how many cfm it does no, and at last i have a 1*92mm in the side pushing like 20cfm...

Any suggestion guys?

try re-seating the HSF and new application of AS. your temps are way too high. with 2.0vcore 2400mhz and low fan speed under load i just had 46.5°

thats with an aluminum HS with only like 35cfm.. open case with no fans too, and a rather warm room

Ok.. Ill try that.. Right now im priming at 1.85-1.87v set at 1.9v in bios.. It have been priming for half an hour now and it is like
50.6°c and the highest I have seen is 52.8°c..

Damn I love this chip!! I whish that I had an Nventive Mach2 or so.. Made in Denmark:banana: Maybe i could hit 3Ghz! of raw Barton Powa!

There might take some time because I want to buy some AC5 instead of the ceramic

Well, how do you read out the temperature? If you do it with the Mainboard Sensor you do know that it can be off by several degrees, right?

E.g. just when I changed my BIOS on NF7 from d10 to d14 my Temps dropped something like 5°C ...

I have a temperature probe installed so that it touches the side of the core

my barton 2500+ does 2.3ghz on air with 1.9v, not really good, is it?

Just to make sure im doing the right thing, I am suppose to get some high grit sandpaper.. The highest i could get was 800 grit, is that good enough?

no, get some 1000 or better 1400 an use some oil/water on it to polish the heatsink.

To combat heat problems so more airflow is the key, I dont know what your airflow is like now but you need equal air in as out. Cold air should come in from the front, the air should be exhausted from the case at the top back. If you can't manage equal airflow in and out, have more going out than coming in. Make sure the fan on your heatsink is blowing down over the fins and not pulling air up. Another application of the TIM may drop temperatures, read the Ceramique applying instructions, I think your supposed to let the pressue of the heatsink spread it out like AS5 to create an air tight application with no air bubbles in the paste.

Actually i have my 92mm enermax sucking the air as it gives me better temps.. Ill take all the option you guys just gave me, in to consideration.. THX:toast:

nice OC man

my slk947u, 53cfm 92mm thermaltake, and as5 don't exactly cool the greatest on my chip either, but my room is unusually warm (upstairs, 4 rigs running 24/7 and heatin the room up a good deal)...my full load temps at 2.41Ghz on 1.93V are about 54C. at 2V, 2460Mhz i hit 57C. Reaseating doesn't make a beans worth of difference, because believe me i've tried, it's just the ambient temp in this room is far less than ideal.

Then i just have to get myself some new fans, so i can get a better airflow over the cpu.. I will just some things, and then report back...
