I was browsing a little through ORB results and I sorted the results just by amd xp scores.
First place Manganakus: http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4391811
How could this guy get that score, just look at his specs. 133 fsb ,1670 MHz cpu and Gf4 4400 unless his card is oc to 500/1000 this score just can't be legit just compare it to Mr.Icee results , also that unknown scorer with name My Benchmark also score strangly high just a little more then 100 point below Mr.Icee record but again with cpu thats hardly even overclocked.
Whats going on ???

There are programs that can submit false information to the ORB and give you a higher score than it is supposed to. The Onions find them and nuke them pretty quick usually.

That score is BS, impossible to reach. A damn' cheater. He posted 3 new fake scores yesterday. (5 on page 1)
I hope he'll get his ass kicked out of the ORB soon.
Here's my score with a Ti4400 :

LOL, I just saw that, looks like a bug realy or who know, just wanted to bring it to attention, because it's realy silly score with that specs.
I hope that ORB admins or whoever check those results will notice that.

Yeah it looks like nature is a good place to get more plus I've got 5Mhz of fsb available with stability to improve the score.

Thanks

Shad

So 15k might be achievable.

Here he is again. His previous scores have all been removed and now he's back, 18743 points. He posted the score yesterday so I really doubt there's a bug in the benchmark.
Big improvement, almost 2000 points.

Damn, 18k+ points, funny xp2000+ no oc. 4400 no oc. second overall , just bellow oppainter record run, why the hell do we bother :d
He obviosly found some trick or bug in 3dmark to get to this score

he must be a great tweaker

and i think his scores shouldn´t be removed until proven faked

it´s crappy 3dmark2k1 that should be debugged

An excellent tweaker. We should ask him to join us.:)
In fact, you're right, maybe there really is a bug in the benchmark, or maybe not. It's up to to the Onions to prove it.

I've just contacted MO again to get these obviously fake/Bug scores removed......

Chong345
09-11-2002, 03:44 AM
I fired off one as well. What about the one from THG Rivastation? FSB = 9k? I mean the rest of the rig looks legit but still.

Hiwayman
09-11-2002, 03:55 AM
Well they've gone now. Yay!

I think the Rivastation one is genuine. He's using an Asus P4T533-C (156MHz limit) with a Turbo PLL and the combo has confused things a bit somewhere.

Also it's Toms Hardware Page's score and even tho Tom is a bit strange he wouldn't cheat....... much...... erm.;)

Yeah I just noticed they took it off. That guy I e-mail over at the ORB replied in 2 minutes, lol.

I send this guy nice email, if he could explain his score, he has no idea, but he runs his computer in network (or something like that), and this is why he got that kind of score, I send his reply to Mr.Icee if he can found the solution, but for now I believe that, that score was made on system described with no tweaks at all !!
There is a bug somewhere, but where... :D

Hiwayman

I'll ask MO to look at them well......

Ok, he made pcmark bench for me and the results were normal, also UT play was normal, but when he try dx8.1 game he said there is 40-50 % increase in frame rates, when his machine is connected and authentified by the domain Controller (A small Duron 1000 512Mo SDRAM Windows 2000 Server/Active Directory) but when using this workstation separately from his Domain (with Active Directory auth.) the results were normal.

Anyway here is his answer about the problem.

Dear 3DMarks2001 users,
First of all, I would thanks all of you for your patience, as I had a lot of works those damn last days and therefore was unable to answer to you all.
Now said, let’s go straight to the point…
Many of you (and so was I) were amazed by the awesome performances under 3DMarks 2001 of my Box (this one is called Mordred), last score being 18763. So let sum up.
First and most important, those scores were achieved WITHOUT ANY OVERCLOCKING OR CHEATS OF ANY KIND !!!!
Here’s Mordred’s config :
· Athlon XP 2000+ (1670Mhz) [Standard 2.13 Asus’ Drivers]
· Asus A7N266c (I do use the onboard Audio, as well as MIDI)
· 512 Mo DDR2100 NoName(Settings 2.5 Turbo)
· Leadtek A250TD (old models, not ViVo) GeForce4 Ti4400 [nVidia 40.41 Drivers]
· Promise Ultra100 TX2 (Additionnal PCI IDE100/ATAPI card) [2.0.0.29 Drivers]
· LG DVD-Rom GDR8160B
· Samsung CDRW SW216B (connected on Ultra100 TX2 for better performances)
· NoName Floppy
· IBM 120GXP 80Mo HDD
· NoName LAN Card, chipset Realtek RTL 8139 [5.396.530.2001 Drivers]
· Iiyama Vision Master Pro 452 monitor
· Agfa Snapscan 1212u
· Creative FPS 5300 Cabinets
· Microsoft Joystick and mouse, NoName Keyboard.

It uses Windows XP Pro as OS, frequently updated (no SP1 yet).

I made no magic-kind settings to achieve those scores, but I remarked something nonetheless :
When using this workstation separately from my Domain (with Active Directory auth.), my machine seems to behave slowly, achieving a 10500 (about) 3DMarks. When connected and authentified by the Domain Controller (A small Duron 1000 512Mo SDRAM Windows 2000 Server/Active Directory), every applications seems to get faster (about +40%/+50% FPS with some games like Mechwarrior 4 or Aquanox), even apps like Word opens fastly… and my 3DMarks2001 scores get higher !!!!!
So it appear (for some mysterious reason) that this machine gets faster (it’s also true with my other workstations, Molloch and Mandrake, that uses KT133 Chipset, but in a lesser way) when connected to a W2k PDC with AD !!!!!
I made the test many different times, It’s always the same… and as far as I know (I’m IT manager), W2K Server does not use Grid computing… J
So, if you want to improve your overall perfs, I would suggest you to use one of your old machine as W2K PDC and connect your Workstation to it through Active Directory…. Anyway, tell me what kind of results you’ve got with this method.
Is it a leak in XP's TCP/IP ? A leak in Asus or nVidia's Driver ? In Dx8.1 ??? In 3DMarks ???
Honestly, I have no real Idea, and really no time to make a true expertise...
If you’ve got a better idea, you’ve got my mail…
Happy benchmarking.

Manganakus.

PS: I have made extended test those last days in order to complete this notes, and it appears that the more my machine gets hot, the higher the score gets (about 5-10% for 10hours on)… Really strange…
PPS : note for the damn ass holes that threat me as a faker (happily, it’s a minority) or send me some insulting letters, I would say get adults or shut up. As many other users, I just use 3DMarks2001 in order to check if my system works in a correct way, if it doesn’t heat up critically too fast, that’s all. I’m not a part of those guys that put their machines to their physically critical limits in order to grab a place in the games’ pantheon (even if I like what they do, after all, the way they do the job is quite impressive). As long as I can work correctly and play a game like UT, MW4 or Aquanox in good conditions, that’s the main stuff.

So there seems to be related somehow to dx8.1, can anyone with two machines verfy that, or maybe pass that to MO so they can see if there is any truth in this.

This is what they call a bug.
Just like the owner.
