We've now released new lighter weight, lower cost versions of our CPU-370 water block: CPU-370SA (http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=1245) (for AMD sockets), and CPU-370SI (http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=1246) (for Intel sockets). They use the familiar nickel-plated copper microfin cold plate (0.25mm fins), a SUS jet plate, but now use a solid acetal top/bracket. (The version for Intel sockets comes with two back plates and some extra posts, so it's a little more than the AMD socket version.)

We'll try to get some better internal pics on our site soon.

I actually like these better than the originals. Nice job!

I like the looks of the original. Why change the aesthetics? For those of use who own the CPU 370, we would have like the opportunity to swamp out tops for looks.

Second, how does the block perform compared to the 370?

Why change the aesthetics?

reasons stated in op was weight/price

These look really nice. I wish you guys (and others) offered black hardware for these black blocks. Or maybe I am just in the dark on that one :P. Either way, nice work!

Wow they look pretty badass!!!! Hopefully they perform as well or better than the CPU-370. I love my CPU-370 I have now....

The cooler looks great, too bad he did not comb before I would be happy with my relatively new revier the cooler had

My taste probably differs a lot, as these seem as ones i dislike a lot looks-wise. Not material (i like all-black components), but shape/form and such. In my eyes CPU-360 block was best looking block ever (370 a bit worse because of less simmetry of moved center inlet), then Aquacomputer's Kryo, and after that looks wise in my book comes simple yet stylish forms square or round of other vendors (HF/Raystorm/DD)
Cheaper for materials and to manufature - good. But these days in this hobby looks matter almost as much as performance, if not more in some cases, so imho this block is a miss. Somehow this diagonally turned square design seems unfitting with most of other surrounding components on motherboard.
As for lighter .. probably shipping weight and price can be more brought down by working on some cheap/light/small size oem packaging, then on block itself.

the nickel heatkiller is still definitely the most aesthesically pleasing block. but im not giving a cent to joel.
not sure i like the look koolance, i greatly prefer the original CPU370 look. gotta replace this swiffy crap with a CPU370 when i have spare cash.

Also, wouldn't a bare CU version reduce cost even further?

+1 For the black mounting hardware as well.

CU oxidizes with time and, thus, gets ugly. Thats why most of the time copper ain't visible and only on the inner sides of the block...unless you plate it.

Sexy block!

+1 Looks great! Black thumbnuts would be a nice accessory too.

my favorite part is the entire top being one solid piece. ive owned a few AMD blocks and the hold down plate is usually too long and not wide enough and it flexes way more than i like. if i was still on an amd board id pick one up asap.

And a plated block won't erode or corrode over the same time period? :D The idea that a cheaply plated block is going to look shinny for a long period of time is becoming more far fetched as time goes by.

I'd rather deal with a bit of oxidation, than having to worry about the plating failing.

So smexy. Please make more blocks like this! Although it does mean spending the savings on new underpants...

This version has the same internal design as our original CPU-370, and our tests put them at roughly the same level for flow and thermals. Temp was about 0.3ºC lower on the CPU-370SI versus CPU-370 last test, which is within tolerance.

We are looking at getting black thumb nuts done. :)
