I just curious about dissolving some Dettol or methanol into coolant as biocides, is it a good idea?

dettol has isopropyl alchohol, and neither it nor methanol is compatible with acrylic, can cause cracking. Not to mention dettol has soap, pine oil castor oil, and states its constituents dont dissolve in water.

The best biocide I know of thus far is colloidal silver. Just a bit expensive.

distilled best coolant ever, use Bitspower TRUE SILVER barbs then you wont need no biocide no coil

The best biocide I know of thus far is colloidal silver. Just a bit expensive.

2 x silver kill coils , 1 x 9v pp3 battery , 2 hours and you have a lethal dose of colloidal silver for any water cooling system. Total cost max £8 to £9

Or 1 Silver coil cut in 1/2

I found a place online, a colloidal silver/"make your own jewelry" store, that sold various guages of .9999 silver strands. Coil it up around a dowel and shove it in tubing just before res. You can customize the coil spacing if you're worried about flow restriction. 3+ years of distilled water and getto kill-coil, my reservoirs and the water in them looks the same as when I put it in.

*pro lrt tubing - black & white. No clear tubing with plasticizer leaching to cloud water.

It just love the white water when Dettol dissolved. ;)
