As you might've read, I've been using an Abit IT7 and 2.26 now for bout 2 and 1/2 weeks. After benching with the setup for a while now I've come to really like it. I thought I'd share with you all my experience with this setup and my current situation.

I first used the standard bios and 1:1 ratio, stock aircooled everything and I was peaking @ 168mhz fsb. (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4222847) I also was only using the 2942 drivers there.

I then hooked up my 226w peltier and iced watercooling (http://www.maximumoc.com/img/hardware/intel_supercooling) and I then had a new bios in which would let me do 3:4 mem if I wanted, but sadly I was clocked so high my memory couldn't handle it! The 4041 drivers came out at this point though, and I slapped em in. This got me 14808 (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4327191) which is my current best, but w/ lots of cooling.

The next step I could've taken but I didn't because the watercooling setup (the replacing of ice was getting annoying) was to do a volt mod to 1.85v. Obviously this'll jump up my score even more but I'm not doing that until I get a better way to chill my water than ice :P

So, I said the heck with the ice and watercooling and went back to stock aircooling but now I had to my advantage the 3:4 ratio and 4041 drivers. So I have been working with that and my ram is topping out @ a very slacked 220mhz 2.5-3-3-7. This is only a 165mhz fsb, and previously I've been able to hit 168mhz fsb so I'm not at the top mhz wise but still, at a blazing mem speed. This setup gave me 14607 (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4384848) which is my best aircooled to date.

The next step is tomorrow, my XMS3200C2 stick is coming. I'll be sticking that in and aiming for 168mhz fsb with a resulting 224mhz mem speed @ the fastest timings. With this I'm hoping to surpass my supercooled bench.

The step after that is to combine A: the mem B: the supercooling C: a volt mod.... and hopefully that should get me past 15k ;)

So, to sum it all up, I'm really enjoying the P4 2.26 and IT7. My next adventure will involve my 1600+ Tbred and the Epox 8k5a3+ (and the XMS3200C2 of course).

Thx for the write up...glad to see ur enjoying it. I know for me, it surely ain't enough a gain to make me switch ;) Or even try it out for that matter, lol $$$$$$$$.

I love my 2.26 chip and the IT7. My stable OC for benching is 190FSB with 1:1 memory ratio. This is with the swiftech mcw462-ut and ice water chilling the cpu.

Glad to see you're having fun sysf :PPP

what temps you get? and what vcore? :]
hmmm.. the tec is @12v?

Yeah the TEC is at 12V. Water temps are at about 0.6C. I'm at about 16C at full load with 1.8V vcore.

Those links up above w/ my scores may not work. I cleaned up my pub'ed stuff and only kept my best, which I just did today w/ xms3200c2.

Because I'm limited w/ stock aircooling atm, I can achieve my best score @ 166:222mhz @ 2-6-2-3. I did get it to stably boot @ 170:226 @ cas2-6-3-3 but the OC was too high overall and the cpu couldn't handle 3d.

I could run 3d @ 168 but, oddly, because I was probably peaking, my score was lower at 168 than it was at 166. And so w/ 166 I am perfectly stable, I can bench for hours, and it's my maximum oc for aircooling. I ended up w/ 14864 (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4389785) as my current best stock aircooled.

I don't think I need to bore anyone w/ sisoft mem screenshots @ 226 2-6-3-3 but I did get, for reference.

I also ran 3dmark @ lowest settings and picked up a healthy

After I have something to eat I'm going to fire up the 8k5a3+, 1600+ Tbred, and xms3200c2 and see what that comobo will get me! Mwaha. I'm shootin for 240mhz fsb!17514 (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4389847)

Sys :).

You need to get some sub zero on the cpu m8. With air I was topping out at 168mhz @ 1.72v (heat getting the better of it - 2.26b like yourself). In this prometia im now running 180/240 mem (slackest timings @ 2.6v) using only 1.70v actual cpu volts. These things fly when you sub zero them.

Hint for you - try Tras 7 m8, it broke through a big barrier for me. Certainly worth messing with, although im on BH-5 winbond chips, not BH-6 like you, plus a "generic" apacer PCB. Get some cooling on the northbridge (40mm 25mm deep fan works better than "aiming" a larger fan) to break [ast 230mhz mem. The northbridge is programmed to increase VTT voltage as the mem clock goes up, so heat goes up disproportionately. That passive heatsink soon runs out of legs. Got an innovatek waterblock here waiting to go on.

Let me know how it goes.

Pilsy good info to know on the northbridge. I'm trying desperately to squeeze any more clock out of this chip but I'm having to use 1.8V and at idle with fresh ice in the res I'm only at like 4-6C. I'm gonna tweak some more over the weekend and see if a fan on the northbridge help me out at all. I wish I had a prometeia.

Thanks for the info, and Pilsy, how the crap are you going to put a waterblock on the northbridge of the IT7? It has those stupid hook things instead of holes. Have you devised some sort of hold down using the hooks? Please let me know. I have a 85w peltier + DD chipset block that does wonders on chilling chipsets to sub temps. That'd be perfect on my northbridge if I could just figure out a way to get it ON it!

Nice scores sysfailur. You just need to slap your cryofreezer on that sucker now.... ;).
