Robinson told X-bit labs that Fusion-architecture - which integrates general-purpose [x86] processing cores with highly-parallel stream processors of Radeon GPUs - is a better solution for high-performance computing

If GPUs with CPU sockets are pointless, then discrete graphics are pointless, and we should all run APUs. Its not like programs will end up requiring more GPU and not more CPU, or vice versa...

I know its more efficient to produce but modularity goes out the window.

Why not produce x86 cores for a GPU slot? Sounds like a wonderful idea to me. You can surely fit 32-64 x86 cores on a GPU PCB :D XD
Maybe my imagination is wild, I guess it wouldn't work very well in a rackmount situation :/

Heh. Think about how many more cores AMD could fit than Intel considering Intel's core size...
