Trying to find a movie/tv show

Friend challenged me to find a movie or TV show made around 1995. It has a scene where a guy is using a watch to move between dimensions or something and ends up in a place where there is a deck of cards moving around in stop-motion (he talks to the king of spades at one point possibly) fashion being attacked by scissors.. he loses his watch and has to regain it to escape. Next scene has something to do with claymation...

Anyone have an idea? :shrug:

doesnt seem like any of them fit. Claymation was for only 1 scene in the movie as far as friend can recall.

Here's a direct copy and paste of the description I was given.. slightly more clear than how I worded it originally maybe.. didnt expect it to be this tough lol.


I remember the guy teleporting into the playing cards dimension for some reason, and I think the playing cards stole his magic teleport watch?

then while he's trying to talk to them and get it back, this pair of scissors attacks and chops them all up; he grabs the watch and teleports out, and winds up in some sort of... cave or prison or something

two little claymation creatures run up and throw yellow paint on him, then scurry off... and that's where it cut to commercial or something, it's all I saw

Pretty sure its not quantum leap or sliders. They pretty well stuck to "reality" as far as I remember and this seems a bit out of the territory of realism..

Wasn't sliders, they use a handheld device in sliders... I don't know of any show that had a watch. That's weird. Did he say what country it was made in?
