I'd like a jeans belt made out of that :)

With a belt buckle, now that's quite unique. Is that some sort of press kit or does it go on sale ? Seems like a pretty well done marketing there. If only it were a return of the K8 era people would be fighting for them. Well we can still wish.

nice retail pack! I want one to my hands :)

Totally photoshoped! :p:

Seriously though, blinging container. I like how AMD does PR, we had pictures of these months ago but little to nothing on the cpus themselves. It's like "Hey guys we have no info for you but look at these bad ass processor tin boxes!" Quite amusing. At least they are something practical that you can keep and use, not just another box to throw out.

Kuroimaho

I really doubt those are tin boxes.

Im going to be miffed if the steel tin has a huge hole in the side for showing the cpu, wanted to use it store stuff in :(

Seen that pic throw around before. But this is the first time I hear anything about it being bundled with the CPU. Awesome if true, but I just find it highly unlikely...?
Unless its not a belt buckle at all, and just a small sticker.

It's almost as large as the cpubox, and it is curved, I think it is a belt buckle.

How do you know it is a review package ? As I recall Anand usually got cpus in some plain plastic boxes.

No, in the leaks I read they claim it will launch later than the 125W models.

Well, unless AMD have started to bundle their CPU's with motherboards, or Asus have started to bundle their boards with CPU's, I think its pretty safe to say its a promo/review package ;)
Just as they've done with previous launches, high end Asus board paired with AMD CPU. Sent out for reviews, competition prizes, advanced users etc as promo.

only for reviewers.... NOT FAIR!!!!!!
lets all not forget that this is the return of the FX name, hopefully this means they offer some cool things like this bundle package.

Isn't it a bit too expensive of a package when it comes to price/performance oriented chip?
Or is that a limited edition?

The press kit is nice...but doesn't equate to retail availability of the processors after launch. I hope they're available without too much delay after launch, but find it hard to be optimistic.:(

So is BD 4 Pair or 8 Legs? :)

They come with 4,6,8, more makes them faster and also more expensive, still cheaper than Sandy but bridges have stronger legs than scorpions.

Don't judge a bridge by its sand cover.

I doubt anyone expects BD cores to be the equal of Sandy cores...

Should anyone be bothered by that? I think most people would be satisfied if Zambezi came close enough in overall performance to be a contender for the public's wallet.

They could be, although not necessarily because of IPC alone.

Like said, we should wait for actual numbers.

I know I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but according to latest results from Dutch website(now pulled) maybe you should have asked:
"I doubt anyone expects BD cores to be the equal of Thuban cores..."
Strange but true.

i think its just CB and a few other benchmarks that are no where near their optimization limit. we saw one post with power consumption and it made BD look incredible, because it was tested in CB11.5. so the score is low, and the power consumption is low, thus it seems theres an issue with select things. i expect when looking at the bigger picture it will be just fine.

also theres going to be a million ways to slice core vs core, since we still dont have consensus on how to count BD cores. i hope people just say thread vs thread or module vs core

Well it's pretty much a sure thing. Results are from AMD press kit. With Turbo core ,even on all 8 cores,in many workloads that scale past 6 threads,8150 barely beats 1100T (at lowly 3.3Ghz). It does beat it by a big margin in Winrar built in benchmark and maybe a few more places. But that's it.

In games it will be somewhat faster than Thuban ,but that is because of the Turbo core. Run them both at the same clock and see what happens.

the ONLY way it should be compared..is price/performance...since thats all that really matters...idc if its 20 cores or a single core..whatever has the best performance for my dollar will get my dollar :)

I doubt anyone expects BD cores to be the equal of Sandy cores...

Considering the FX-8150 is rumored to cost roughly the same as a I7 2600 it better be at least equal in performance... but the cores them self? doesn't really matter if AMD takes 1 core or 300 to build a Cpu as long as the performance is there in the end.
