Newegg jacked up the price a bit unfortunately. $129/pop isn't too shabby for 300MH/s at 200w or so TDP. Problem is these no longer pay themselves off in a week or two.

I hear you on that shoota; I ts been around a month I believe and I haven't even made enough to pay for my 2 5830's/. The price drop isn't helping either. This also does not include the additional cost of electricity. Tonight I was honestly thinking about maybe selling my 2 5830's to one of the guys that want to continue. Will have to give it some thought. I need to try and figure out how much they cost me to run ea mo:shrug:

Does anyone have a BIOS that will work on this (actually, the other one that was $109). I have this and another 5830 maxed at 875Mhz and 900Mhz, and would love to get them up to 1Ghz and get closer to 300MHash than 270MHash

Snagged 1 more to fill up my last PCIe slot.:yepp: makes 6 58xx cards

based on my BTC calculator http://www.kaptain.me/btc_calc.php

it will take about 47 days to pay off a 5830 + electricity cost

As for now next difficulty change doesn't look too bad. Low price = people running away from bitcoin.

I have come across a 5870 ...200$ wondering if I should pick it up and get on the train by some luck I have come across a board cpu to run it on also just need a psu. If I get on it I will look to add another 5870 and am prepared to be a little patient (famous last words im sure :P).

Your thoughts guys .... I am getting into it hoping to make money and am pretty sure if I even make half the value of the 5870 I can easily sell it to cover up the difference.

Hey I found a 6990 on CL, good price or no?

Price looks good to me if the card is aok. Had many Nv cards go up in smoke but 6990s seem to be built like tanks.

Have a quality PSU to go with it and you're easily in for 800Mh/s+.

if you can see the card running before you buy it....
I bout one on CL but didn't have a good experience
seller showed it to me running... and i thought that was all good.
took it home and ran it and the VReg overheated in 1 or 2 minutes.
I can't mine with it... payed $600 for it and it is worthless to me now...
so make sure you see it running... and that u have GPUZ up and showing all the temps...
right now trying to get mine fixed through HIS but they don't reply often to their tickets.

note: just because i bought a lemon doesn't mean you will

You're right, being safe is better than being sorry.

Let the guy show you the card running Furmark for at least 10 minutes with OC BIOS. 100deg+ is no issue, it just needs to be stable at these settings.

Received my 8530 today got it installed. Had issues trying to get Afterburner to see both cards and allow me to adjust the 5830 along side my 5850.

I was able to overclock the card to 1010 on the core It might even go higher. With my 5850 clocked at 810 pulls about 320 MHash. The 5830 clocked to 1010 pulls 310 MHash.

The thing I notice is that each gpu is not pegged at 99% usage. They will drop down to about 90% so MHash rate will change also. Is this normal or is this a sign that I am pushing my PSU?

It might be you need to give them a core to run on. First, see what happens with nothing else running. What you describe is what I saw when running WCG on all cores at the same time.

Right now each gpu has its own worker. Each worker has it own core associated with it and only those 2 cores are running. This is done with 1 instance of GUIMiner.

So this maybe just the way it is.

Also want to confirm these saphire extreme 5830 do not have voltage control correct?

Found a newer version of Trixx supports switching between multi gpus version 4.0.2

This also allows me to adjust voltage on the 5830.

Just installed it and it worked. In the Trixx under the logo in the top left do you have the drop down box to select either video card? Or Can you see the video cards but wont allow you to overclock them?

It makes me sad every time I look at this thread.

I bought my 2 Sapphire 5830 for 140$ each about 1.5 months ago (109$ on newegg) and now exactly same cards are 177$ and people still buying them...
I considered myself lucky for getting 5870 Lightning for 285$ a while ago and now reference 5870 floats around 350$.

EU SUCKS!
