I don't think you will be disappointed, it is great fun to play. Teamwork makes a huge difference to the balance of power in the game, team up with some veterans and it becomes a whole new experience. Spies can be annoying though, they can perform a one hit kill and they can be invisible, getting killed by one is like dying at random for no reason at all. Really frustrating if you are just about to win a one on one fight and you die without a clue that it is about to happen

It always was free-to-play. It has never been subscription based.

I stopped playing it ages ago when it got wrecked with hats, crafting and trading.

Just started yesterday. First I thought it would be a little kid's game, but it is FUN.
