Just need some advice - recently theres been alot of talk about multiple pump setups.

I just completed my rebuild and I'd like to get a bit more flow going. I know there is no correlation between flow rate and temperatures, but I think my flow is a bit on the low side. I dont have a flow meter - checking by pinching the tubes etc and it feels really weak.

Its not the most restrictive loop, but I've got a few 90 deg fittings which will hamper flow a little.

My setup:

1 x 480 rad; 1 x 240 rad
1 x EK HF Supreme
1 x EK FC-6990
1 x EK Multioption 200 Res
8 x Bitspower 45 deg fittings
5 x Bitspower 90 deg fittings
4 x EK PSC fittings
1 x Koolance QDC
1 x D5 w/ Bitspower top
7/16" tubing.

So I've got another Laing 18w DDC lying around, would it be worthwhile to add this to the loop? If so, where should I place it?

thanks!

fittings hardly hamper flow. It's the blocks.

You have two moderate restriction waterblocks.

You do not need more pumps.
Your tubing feels soft? Because it's got a 1/8" wall, simple as that

No, I can't feel any flow through the tubing at all.

Exactly.

The smaller tubing, a restrictive system and plenty of components to run the water through is a problem. It's easier to suck through a bigger straw than a narrow one. Likewise, the pump can only put out enough pressure if allowed to flow without the tubing being smaller in diameter. Up the tubing to 3/8-inch ID.

This is the same fluid/air performance concept as running your engine with a bigger exhaust. The less restriction for the pipes, the better flow and horse power. A great engine can not run with the air and exhaust being choked. Thus it's the same for a pump!

u get redundancy tho on dual pumps.. :T

the only reason i would recommend dual pumps on a loop like that.

Cheers guys - I'm not so keen to change tubing and all my comp fittings so im going to slot in the DDC somewhere, mainly for redundancy.
Any idea where it should go?

At the moment loop order is:

D5 - 240 rad - GFX - CPU - 480 rad - res - D5
