I know a lot of people that picked up a H50 for $40 at best buy the other day and some were trying to find a way to mount it on their Fermi card. I drew out a mounting plate that goes on top of the existing plate and holds it down. You will need 4 7/8" 2-56 thread screws.

After I get this machine shop to cut one out and it works pretty well, would there be a market for these mounting plates? I wouldn't sell for much of a profit... maybe 10%(plate would be $5 or $6 shipped maximum).

Go ahead and make your own plate if you have the equipment... I stole the hole measurements from the Swiftech diagram of their GF100 mounting plate.

Ideally you would use a H70 or H60 on your GPU because it is so thin, but for $40 the H50 is a perfect upgrade from stock cooling if you don't have or need SLI. It has been done with a H70 and a GTX 480 already on the Corsair blog. I'm just copying that idea.

Measurements are in centimeters, by the way

I think there would be a decent market for these. Especially if you make ATI versions too. With the H100 on the way, I am already thinking of re-purposing my Antec Kuhler for my 6950.

Acrylic prototype. I sent the drawings to the machine shop tonight. This is what I could do with a hammer, screwdriver, drill, and a doorknob hole maker.

I have couple H70's laying around, wonder if I could use them to cool my gtX590 when I get it in. Hmmm, interesting little project.

I will be back with temperature data once I get a decent fan. Right now a stock H70 fan is on it(yes H70, one of the two from a friend's H70) but I have this on the way from newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233084

I would have gotten a Cooler Master Blade Master 120 because of the 3.90mmH20 static pressure, but the thing is loud at full speed and I don't have a fan controller. I have two on the H50 on my CPU but those fans are controlled by the CPU fan header. This Xigmatek fan is decent, it has 2.41mmH20 which is nothing to sneeze at. 75CFM also. The part that got me to buy it is the 20dB rating, and it is only 1800rpm.

Price from machine shop for 1st one is $15 to $20. A lot for a metal ring, but if I order 50 or 100 from the mass fab company down the street it will hopefully be $5 a piece. I will try to get an AMD card mount out but I have no AMD cards to test it on, so not sure if the holes will line up perfectly.

These holes lined up great on this one, but the fit around the teeth on the H50 was very tight. Had to kind of force it up and twist one side at a time to get it over. The fit was so good that I didn't need the stock plate that came with the H50(one with teeth). Just my mounting plate is on my 470 right now and it is very secure.

I won't sell it, too much work anyways.

Added a pull fan to the rad. Right now there is a H70 fan pushing and a Lian Li case fan pulling. I think it's like 37CFM with bad static pressure(LI121225SL-4). Once my Xigmatek fan gets here I will have a good push/pull system. Expecting a 5C+ drop.

I'm glad someone FINALLY did this.

This is interesting :D.

I hope Xigmatek didn't lie in their spec chart... 1800rpm 75CFM 20dBa 2.41mmH20 for $10 shipped!

Right now I would have H70 push/pull fans but I was an idiot and snapped a blade! I tried adjusting the rad position with the fans still spinning and needless to say a blade on the pull fan caught an edge somewhere

Actually I believe Jake - CptPlanet was the first, that I know of anyway.

WOW! I like it. 34 degreed drop!

If Corsair comes out with a mounting kit for nVidia and AMD cards, they'd be seeing a lot of money. Easy WCing! H100 should really give great temps on these cards.

They would have to design a mount that does not conflict with the prongs that line up the plastic cover.

I had to cut off the metal prongs that stick up into the plastic housing of the card to fit on the waterblock. The ones on the edge of the card

I used these shears to snip them down to the base plate

I resized the images above to fit the thread. Here is a shot of load temps with the Xigmatek fan installed as push. H50 fan pulling right now. I lost my job on the 15th so money is tight... could only get one fan from newegg. I'll post back when/if I do get matching push/pull fans.

As I predicted, about 5C-7C drop with new fans. In the red box is the graph from the previous picture(H50 push Lian Li pull) and the red line just extends the high temp out so you can see the difference.
