Would it be possible to run my GPU and CPU block off a single 240mm RAD or should I invest in a separate rad?
Thanks.

you'll need some really powerful (and loud) fans ... to cool the rad

Thanks, I am running scythe gentle typhoons. I will see what happens and hopefully have no problems.

it really depends what CPU and GPU. there are blocks for HD5770 and if paired with sandybridge, that's not much heat to dissipate

I used to do it with my E6600 @ 3.6 1.4v, and 8800GTX...

... had decent - not great - temps, FWIW. Moving up in radiator didn't help my overclock on that poor, lowly E6600.

I am using an i7 2600K and a GTX580.
So hopefully the SB will help with temps.
At the moment the SB doesn't go over 32C.

I would risk browsing Internet, but not heavy gaming...

Totally depends on the overclock.
I could run a e6400 @ 3.7ghz 1.6v and a HD2900XT overclocked on a single 240 rad. Temps were high but it was stable.

If you use a single 240 rad, make sure you have a small pump that doesn't dump too much heat in the loop.

Barso, you can do it. Your temperatures will depend on your overclocks... Other than that it WILL WORK but how well really depends on you.

I'd think a mild OC on the CPU and stock GPU would produce acceptable temperatures. That 580 is gonna dump a lot of heat.

It will work, but don't expect great temps when gaming / GPU folding (when your GTX580 is fully loaded).

Been there, done that with an Overclocked QX6700 and 8800GTX (hohoho on the heat!)

It worked but I could only load one at one time. That was fine though since I recorded games, loading the card, then turned the game off, and encoded loading the processor.

Thanks for the advice.
The cost of the GTX580 block is to much for temps that won't be that great.

One of my sons is running a 920 @3.7ghz (ht on) and a gtx 285 on a single black ice 240 with noctua P13's @12v in push pull. He games a lot and it works well.

Edit: I just ran 3 loops of metro 2033 benchmark @1920x1200 gpu clocked to 700mhz, gpu hit 42c, cpu hit 47c.

im running an i7 920 @ 3.8ghz ht on 1.23v and two hd5870 stock on a Thermochill pa120.3 using only 3x s-flex F fans @ 1600rpm folding 24/7 using both GPU's and CPU :

ambient is 25~26c
cpu temp never goes above 63c
gpu's never goes above 50c

It depends on you comfort level,

I have a D5 set at 4 pushing through a xspc rs240 with 2 zalman 1225asl fans (supposed to be their most quiet) to an apogee xt rev 1 on an i7-870 and an EK 5870FCv2 it runs boinc 24/7 even when gaming and the temps top out at about 60c on cpu and 65c gpu.

i've got a single 240 swiffy cooling an old phenom 9850 @ 3.0ghz and a 4870 (gpu only block) with 2 of the old YL-m from petra's. Been running it almost 24/7 folding and gaming for 2+ years and its fine. Temps aren't awesome in the summer but its quiet which is what i wanted.

pump is a ddc 3.2 with petra's top

current temps with 100% folding load on cpu and some major dust issues
ambient 30-31c
cpu 57-59c
gpu 45c

in gaming the cpu temp drops down by 7 or 8 degrees and the gpu goes up maybe 1 or 2
