View Full Version : Do the paly cores dislike higher FSB speeds?

Just wondering, because long story short, I'm stuck with my old 1800 AGOGA until my 2600 gets back from an RMA to AMD, unless I can find a good barton or the such that will 2.5ghz+ since they all have locked multi's now.

But it seems that if I put the fsb much over 200, I run into some stablity issues. I know this ram I'm using is good for 220 @ it's current settings, because with my last lan party board and my now dead 2100, I was running 220x10.5, no problem. With this 1800, I've been keeping the cpu speed around 1500~1600mhz, 1.8v vcore, was running 2v through it just to see if that would help, but no...

Well, I am running a 2000+ pally, AGOIA I believe.

Running her at 214x9=1.93, of course I have to pump 1.98 volts through her to get it that high.

Try unlocking your cpu first, lower the multi, then crank up the fsb.

In my experience, the cpu doesnt hold your fsb back, its mainly the mem or mobo. As long as you dont push the cpu too hard, it shouldnt have a prob with the fsb.... but then again thats just one man's opinion.

(It IS different on the A64's with the onboard mem controller and all, and the P4's cause of the locked multis.

multi is unlocked, so I have been adjusting that.

That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO true. This cpu may look like a decent overclocker for a pally, but it was not easy getting it where it is.
