Just a quick question - do these "new" type blocks come with the new mounting mechanism (screw-in standoffs)? I just got one (nickel/acetal) and it came with those standard annoying ones. I don't particularly feel like taking the block apart to find out whether it's the new design or not.

standoffs are on the outside ..pull the block from the box and you should be able to tell

Huh? I know that. I opened the box. It came with the old, black standoffs, I already said that in my first post. My question is whether the "revised" block design also has two mounting versions - the old and the new. I wanted to buy the new block and I'm wondering whether I got the right part. Apologies if the initial post wasn't clear on that.

A few days ago I received directly from EK some EK-FC580 GTX+ blocks with the new channelling over the GPU. The standoffs are the usual black spacers that don't thread into anything.

The EK-FC5x0 GTX GW blocks feature the new brass screw-in standoffs, also the 6990 blocks. The 590 GTX Don't have them.

Ok, so the EK-FC580 GTX+ blocks have the black, standard spacers, correct?

Yes, so far the 580 GTX have black POM spacers.

Thanks Eddy :) Pity, I was hoping the "new" 580s would have the brass screw-ins. Oh well, 6XX can't be far off now ;)

Yes, so far the 580 GTX have black POM spacers.

But the Installation Manual (http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109855324.pdf) of the EK-FC580 GTX+ says something else (threaded brass standoffs!).

Hi, that is interesting, to know it this way.
I haven't been at the office for the past 2 weeks because of my health problems and my team managed to release it. Good work :)

EK isn't known for their up to date instructions... : )

really tho, on the GPU installation kit it shows how to put TIM on a cpu : )

@penguins: it's not showing how to put a TIM on a CPU but rather how to wipe the IHS or core surface with the q-tip cloth, don't mislead people! :yepp:

Regarding brass standoffs: Yeah, our fault :D New batch of copper, slowly getting rid of the plastic POM spacers everywhere.
