View Full Version : Going overboard w/ Quick Disconnects?

So up until now I've only use BP compression fittings. I like them a lot but moving parts in and out of a loop is a pain in the ass. So I've decided to try quick disconnects (Koolance VL4N).

At first I was going to use one set per tube run and place them in-line. But then I was thinking why not get crazy and put the quick disconnects at every port so that the tubing can be completely removed when I need to swap parts. However, that would double the number of quick disconnects required and my concern is restriction.

I know there have been some tests on VL4N and they seem pretty good restriction wise but I'm wondering what you all thought of going from 3 to 6 VL4N fittings in a single loop. How much of an impact would that have? The loop would comprise 2 full cover GPU blocks, a PMP-450S, a RP-452X2 and Norprene (1/2" 3/4") tubing.

Thank you.

I thought they were pretty restrictive. They got to be! Look how water gets through those suckers! I don't know though, I use 1 per loop and usually have to blow on my fillport to completely push all water through ;/

I'd actually like to add more myself but always thought they were too restrictive. So I'd like to know this as well!

I did find this: http://skinneelabs.com/quick-disconnect-roundup/ But my questions stands... what do you all think of going from 3 (in-line) to 6 (not in-line) in a single loop which comprises 2 FC GPU blocks, a PMP-450S, a RP-452X2 and Norprene (1/2" 3/4") tubing?

Thanks.

my question is, are you going to be running 12v< with that d5 strong? because unless you aren't it's not worth buying heh.

with that beast up round 24v you'll be fine in my un-expert opinion.

I run VL3N's in my setup, a total of 4 sets on a single loop with cpu block, two GPU FC blocks and a MB FC block and with my two MCP355's and dual top I get around 1.2GPM. The VLN4's are supposed to be less restrictive than the VL3N's and you have less blocks, so I think you will be fine.

I was going to pick up a CTR-SPD24 24V Pump Controller.

Then you should be fine.

You'll be fine.
