so i want to do this right if it means buying quality components.

eventually, my rig will have:

cpu block
koolance GPU-220 universal gpu block
either 1 rx240 or 2 rx120 (but not all 3)
resorvoir.
possibly northbridge block

i was thinking the mcp35x would be good, but is there a better or more efficient pump?

i'm going for silence.

I've read (and heard) that a D5 (MCP655) is more silent than an MCP355.

can you control speeds on the 655?

I think MCP35x is the best bet, really.
You can control speed of D5 vario. I think these are still more noisy, though.

Hello!

Both are great pumps, and the MCP35x is great performance wise, but i think D5 are well known for their reliability.

Been reading a lot, and i liked something that a friend told, MCP35x beeing a smaller body/pump performs same or better than the good old D5 but at what price?
MCP35x requires more electronics to match or outperform D5 (remember, smaller pump, smaller body with "steroids")

If space is not an issue i would go for D5, but if you preffer small pump then get MCP35x!

Hope this helps!

If you mount the D-5 with a pad, it is silent, at least mine is.

I'm really enjoying the PWM control of the MCP35X. While I do like the D5 series better at 100%, the 35X at 28% is quieter and it only ramps up to 100% when needed automatically.....so 99% of the time it's the more silent option and 1% it has more noise but more power to go with that when needed. Of coarse you have to make use of temperature throttling before you reap the noise benefits, but it's really nice.

I think I may have been converted....PWM pumps are awesome when utilized to their full extent.

what are you using to modulate the power?

speedfan and motherboard fan connector?

Yep... Wish I had an Asus or Gigabyte board, but Speedfan fills the gap for motherboards like MSI that don't give you any decent software.

You can use an Aquaero 4 with a Poweradjust now, or wait for the A5.
