Run most of all tests (3D Mark Vantage, 3D Mark 11, Super PI and so on) to ensure, that performance is as expected.

In this case maybe Heaven is very GPU limited...

Exactly. CPU makes very little difference in this benchmark. The drop in score you saw is probably due to statistical variance (although it seems a bit big, but I've never run this bench before).

Edit: Nevermind, the score difference i quite small.

for this bench no need to o/c the cpu much...it will run faster at slower cpu speeds.

Already did, while waiting for my R3E's RMA. Performance of Heaven benchmark is not as expected, unlike other tests.

It is GPU limited, but is it also chipset limited? Is it possible that NForce790i Ultra SLI is kicking X58's ass?

No, it is not statistical error. It varies only few points between runs.

Right, no need for CPU OC, but it won't run faster on lower speed, it just doesn't matter. Same results on 4.2, 4.5 or 4.8GHz.

Already tested with HT Enabled/Disabled and different affinities.

Any more ideas? Except "NForce rules" conclusion.

downclock GPU and card memory a bit to test if it is unstable. Also test with different PCI-E clocks (90, 95, 105, 110 or something).

Looks like FSB/PCI-E bandwidth limitation. With high end GPU and DX11 mode Heaven is very sensitive to "platform bandwidth", for example boards with Hydra are a few percent slower.

GPU and memory are pretty much stable, at least folding stable and Crysis 2 stable. Highest clock on water are around 1030/2060/4900.

Tried raising PCI-E from 105 to 115MHz and gained ~10 points. I know it would happen as changing PCI-E frequency on Striker 2 Extreme did it also, but there is still 35-40 points lag, and that is on the wrong side. R3E should be better then S2E.

It makes sense, that is similar thinking to my comment of NForce790i being better optimized then Intel's X58 for NVidia GPUs.

It shows your X58 rig is total crap. I can help you fix this problem, just send it to me and start using your 790i/QX9650 as your main rig :D :p:

Well, it is a solution. :D

But I got something else:

And what you make to achive higher results?

There some guys sad about PCI-E bandwidth, but on my GTX 570 and P55 board, I see that PCI-E bus drops it's performance from 2.0 to 1.0 at idle, maybe something wrong with your system and bus always works at 1.0, as in idle? It maybe due to Windows power management plan, so try "Always On" plan, BIOS settings or driver/BIOS bugs.

PCI-E stays at 2.0 (16x) and the Power Management is set to High Performance.

Only difference between Striker 2 Extreme and Rampage 3 Extreme is that first one has option to Disable HPET.

There are few thing that I did to lower my DPC latency, while waiting for official HPET Disable support.

I thought that heaven got higher scores from slightly lower cpu frequencies , i thought there was a thread on this a while ago

hmm i will test lower cpu and see some score
