Stalker mods SOC / Clear Sky / COP

So what are the best mods? I see a lot of big mod packs for COP that touch a lot of aspects in the game. Used the complete mod for COP, but it just doesn't really renew the game enough for me. It's more about twaeking of the original game. After 3 playthroughs you know where everything is and you need new content.

And how about SOC? Anyone still doing that? Is it playable or is it just too old even with graphics mods? Clear sky was always passed as an inferior product but I think there is work being done on that one too.

There is a complete rework in the making for at least SOC and COP with the Crysis engine. That would be something to keep an eye on.

Please comment as detailed as possible, what new content, are there really noticable visual enhancements etc.

This mod is amazing but you will have to read alot about getting the right files and the best translation...

I used all 3 of the Complete Mods and Priboi Story changes the game story in SoC. You become some officer hunting for Strelock. http://www.moddb.com/mods/priboi-story :)
Modders are reworking SoC using the Cryengine2. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/02/07/modders-recreating-stalker-in-cryengine-2/
STALKER 2 uses Cryengine3
All the STALKER series work well in 3D.

As far as making the game more challenging, the SoC NEWSA-Simbion mod is the clear winner IMO. http://www.gamerspedia.net/ Though I think the author's use of zombies is a bit over the top, this mod makes SoC seriously more difficult.

Another vote for Priboi Story. A completely new gameline, quite the undertaking and hard in a puzzle-solving way that's not present in SoC.

Easy place to start would be the stalker complete mods. Though my main gripe about it is the scopes that were put in as opposed to the stock ones. They just don't feel right.

If you do use those mods though be wary about the wish-granter function. It will really take away most of the point of the game with loot.

Just finished CoP and SoC for the 2nd and 4th times and nearly finished CS for the first time and I have to say the complete mods are quite nice. I've tried others for SoC and although they do some neat stuff I enjoy the the vanilla game as is for the most part.

I still think SoC is the best game all around experiance wise. If it was running the newer version of Xray along with some of the gameplay alterations of CoP (namely the more dynamic AI and areas along with the improved interface and upgrades) it would be epic.

I can't remember which mod it is, probably Priboi Story, but you can use the artifacts to create your own anomalies! It's hilarious! I would place 7-10 of them at the entrance to the Border to the Red Forest because if you return from there the place is overrun with enemies and monsters. Fun to sit around and watch the Zombies catch on fire and the get twirled up in the air by a Whirlijig, ha ha. Also can be used for defense if Bandits are after you. Place some at the entrance to something and hide inside or behind something till they are thinned out. There are a few places that you can "jump the fence" that prevents freeroaming. Wander around in "No Man's land", see what you find.

:up: I agree with you a hundred percent! Particularly COP is a huge disappointment for me.
In terms of mods, you should try all complete mods. They are just awesome. They are working on SoC Complete 2012 version right now.
Also looking forward to try Ket's mod. (Another reason to re-play SoC) he he he:yepp:)

I am still on my first playthrough of SoC....... I am running one of the complete mods for it and really like it.
