View Full Version : Best Radiator Fan?
Hello,
I was looking for advice on what the ideal fan for a radiator would be (expense aside)?
I'm currently using Gentle Typhoons, but a few of them have already developed really annoying bearing noise, and the retailer is refusing to take them back (claiming there is nothing wrong with them).
Any ideas on what fans I could use as an alternative?

Many times dbA is less important than noise quality/frequency for many people. I would suggest listening to the fan videos and let your ears be the judge. Ultimatly it's only your ears and your percived sound quality acceptance that matters.
If you read into the studies behind A weighting history, you'll soon learn that it's just an accepted standard that is used and that every human ear is slightly different in percieved loudness and frequency sensitivity.
This is why I went to all the trouble to do the video method of testing...hoping it's the next best thing to having a fan in hand and listening for yourself. Of coarse as with most testing, it's just a recording of one sample and there is sometimes big differences between samples.

The magma had a good smooth sound, but noise level was higher than average.

I use 4 SilenX iXtrema Pro Quiet LED Blue 120mm (14dba, 72 cfm) on my XSPC 480 rad. When I bought them they were advertised as having the best airflow to noise ratio on the market.

Do you have these in your build? I'd love to see pics, very unique fans.
