What do you guys think?
Personal Questions:
Think the 'connected fan blades' will have much benefit on radiators at lower rpms?
What do you think the lowest rpm you could get out of the 3k version be?

High speed fans are mediocre as lowspeed, when downvolted. Unless you know for sure you need very powerful (and very noisy) fans, drop idea.

Well I have the 1850rpm Scythe GTs right now, I'm wondering if the blade design will help with static pressure across the radiators if undervolted to ~1850 rpm.

Doubt it.
The fan has fewer blades than the 1850 model and that ring can't help flow. It was added in there to help reduce flexing/vibration type noises of the fan blades at high speeds.

There are great high speed fans and great low speed fans, but I have yet to find a fan that is great at both. Most high speed fans are fairly poor at slow speed duties. You can't have it all in one fan.

Same goes for GT15s, they are great at 12V, but a GT13 is better at 12V than a 15 that is undervolted to the same RPM.

I still don't get why they didn't go for the 2150RPM model, but it sounds like those are being discontinued according to some guys over at OCN.

The ring is definitely a very interesting design. Would it help with blade tip turbulence, and maybe static pressure since there is no gap ?

Waterlogged made a video buried in the threads somewhere. It'll tell you the undervolt minimum and give you a sense of sound. It has a very different tone and sound quality compared to the GT15 and slower series.

My subjective listening between AP-15, & AP-29 is the same as the 15 vs a 13. Better to get a fan speed, specific for your needs.

The AP-29 undervolts well for a 3000 rpm fan, nice tone at higher speeds IMO, a great high speed fan for sure.

@ Martin, Ya, I'm still upset over the missing 2150rpm model, Oh well:shrug:

Thanks for the link martin, I never thought 3k could be so ...quiet. Compared to 3k ultra kazes these are amazing. Althought I would still stick to gt15s If I had the choice (and they were available when I bought my fans...)

It's still freaking loud.

There's a GT 2150RPM model? I've never seen them. Why have they been discontinued?

They were a nidec option in their catalog, but Scythe never added them to their lineup so they were never for sale retail in the US. OCN has a group buy thing going on them and someone their making the order said that speed was being discontinued in a while. Not sure why.

I would have tested some of these high speed models by now, but honestly still not feeling much interest. I've moved on to pumps for a while..:)

They really aren't that loud, especially for the air being moved. The vid seems to make them sound louder than in person IMO.

I do have a higher noise level threshold than a lot of people here, for sure. The GT-29's are replacing my San Ace 38mm fans on my PA160.1's. Much better cfm to noise ratio.

Martin,
The only reason the GT13 is better at the same rpm is due to motor noise, right?
No differences in the fan blades or airflow?
