240 + 120 Rad Enough?

Here is my system:

AMD 1055t
Asus M4a89GTD Pro USB3
4gb Kingston HyperX
EVGA Superclocked GTX 460 SLI
Seasonic DA700w PSU
Fractal Define r3

I can only fit a 240 rad and 140 in the case without having to cut into it or putting the radiator outside the case. Will those be enough for both my cpu OC'd to 4.0 and GTX 460 SLI slight OC?

How should it go?

RES > Pump > 140 RAD > CPU > 240 rad?

If you are only cooling the CPU, a good 240 is all you need.

I am running an RS240 and an RS120, these are both 35mm thick I think and are cooling a clocked 4ghz i7, full cover mobo block, mosfet blocks and a 470gtx no problem! I think you will be just fine!

Your setup will be running hot. That's 2 cards and one hot CPU on two small rads...
Just cut the case, don't be afraid. The more rads it can take the less likely you are to swap it because you need something bigger. :up:

yeah the ? was just to end it as I didn't know how to do the loop with the gpus and cpu. I really really do not want to cut into the case, I don't have enough room in my apartment to do so. I could also add another 140 rad so that would be two 140 rads and one 240 rad

screw the 140mm rads, and go the 120, because u can get better fan selection on the 120's and get better performance.

Ideally, each 120x1 radiator is about good for 150W of heat.
Unless your a cruncher, or you do a lot of cpu heavy tasks, rarely will you have both cpu and gpu loaded simultaneously, and when they do, if you have water volume you can compensate for the simultaneous load sessions you have. (u see this is when volume is nice)

That being said, Loop order has almost 0 impact in your system, because one component alone isnt enough for water delta to go up 1C, unless ur going to starve your system of Flow.

So you will be fine on a 240 + 120 unless your a cruncher, or folder, as long as u keep with the low restriction eq.

Note:
You will not get XS worthy brag temps.
You will get another public forum brag worthy temps.

But the system will be ranked mid tier, and not upper mid tier, which 80% of the people here are running.

It will work, but will run pretty warm (when both the CPU and the GPUs are loaded). It depends on your expectations, though...

thank you, I'm not looking for bragging rights, I just like to see lower temps. at 4.0-4.2ghz overclock what kind of temps should I expect to see under day to day use and on prime blens test or linx?

Ok, well there are more efficient fans out there, like the Typhoons as DexNfX says, but they also cost quite a bit more. And if you are only cooling your CPU with the equivalent of a 360 rad, you should be fine with the D12's or Sflex :)

Depends a lot on which Typhoons you choose and what temps you are able to live with. You are looking at about 400W heat at stock speeds, and when you start to overclock you will reach 500W really fast. Thats a lot of heat for 360 rad. It can be done, but as NaeKuh says, do not expect brag worthy temps. What rads are you going to use?

Prolly not. GPUs will be fine, CPU at that overclock prolly not.

I haven't looked at the radiators lately but are the thermochills still the best in the market? If not who's the leading right now? I plan to get the best radiators if I'm going to go with a 240 + 120.

How much do you care about noise, and do you know which Typhoons you want to use? The best rad chioce depends a lot on what fans you want to use on it. HWLabs GTX are awesome with high speed fans that delivers a lot of CFM, where XSPC RX V2 is one of the best choices if you want to use silent low CFM fans...
But look in the link theseeker posted and see for yourself :)
