Hi, firstly...

I've got a GB K8NPRO, AMD 3000+ and am thinking of getting either KHX 3000 2-2-2 or KHX3500 2-2-2, either in 2x512 pack.

Was curious as to whether the A64 platform has any issues with 1gb of ram? Specifically the Nf3-150 platform.

Thinking of a 220 - 230mhz overclock if possible.

The modules will most likely be Bh5. Am unsure about the PC3500 tho, could be a misprint on the sites behalf, tho they have got the PC3200 @ 2-3-2 :\

anyhow. Any problems running 1gb on the A64 platform? Atm I've got 512 of CH5 KHX PC3500. Gonna see if I can get 220 on this first before I buy and also what you guys say will help me :)

Thanks dudes.

Peace.

You wont find KHX3500 with BH5. They might've used it for a short while but not anymore. KHX3200 (non-a) and KHX3000 both have BH5 though. I just ordered 2x512 KHX3000 from Zipzoomfly and it was a good set, BH5 and made in the USA (not the new china crap that apparently sucks).

not that i have heard of.. i plan to use 2x512 mushkin bh5 in my shuttle AN50R. may not overclock quite as well.. naturally since its twice the number of sticks, but thats going to be a problem in any configuration.

There's a chance you may receive Winbond CH-5 chips purchasing Kingston HyperX PC3000. The price of Kingston HyperX PC3200 (non-A) has gone up enough to consider Mushkin Black Level 2 instead. With Mushkin Black Level 2, you'll be getting a sure product. But all three of these are of a dieing breed, and won't last in-stock (with Winbond BH-5 chips) to Spring, so don't delay purchase once you made up your mind.

Mushkin, Kingston & OCZ have all run out of BH-5 chips. So BH-5 sticks are no longer being made by anyone.

Mushkin was the last to run out just a few days ago, so they should be the easy ones to find. OCZ has pretty well vanished.

In just a few weeks, perhaps less, tight timing sticks are going to be tough to get.

his question is about ram size.. not company or bh-5 or ch-5.. sheesh.. c'mon guys =)~

only thing i have seen, and this goes with all chipsets, and all rams. the larger the stick, the more chips on it, the less likely it is to clock as high. its pure logic. doesnt mean its always the case, just means its more likely. a sure thing is 2x256. i have maybe 6 256 mushkin lvl2, 4 512 mushkin lvl 2 and 10 or so various kingston bh-5's. the 256's GENERALLY do better
