hey guys,

ive been looking around to find a copper FC block for my gtx460, with clear plexi front.... They all come either with acetal fronts, or metallic fronts.

http://www.aquatuning.de/images/product_images/600x400/10196_0.jpg

I was wondering, how difficult would it be to custom fabricate a cover plate for this gpu block, out of clear plexi to replace the mettalic cover.

any ideas if this is feasible? i have LOTS of plexi avaialble... 3mm, 5mm, and i think 2mm...

As close as those screws are to the edge...I wouldn't even try it. You'll have cracked plexi in no time.

Why dont you go with EKWBs 460 GTX block?
It has plexi cover and nickel plated copper and its a bit cheaper http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p10145_EK-Water-Blocks-EK-FC460-GTX---Nickel.html

I would use Lexan rather than Plexi. Much easier to work with and can be purchased at any home improvement store rather cheaply.

Still would crack that close to the edge. I worked as a machinist for 12 years and during that time saw slotting saw break Lexan windows that were only a few months old (put them in myself).

With a great deal of respect I would have to say that I don't think so, being a Tool and Die maker of 30 years. However, I've been wrong many more times than I care to think about.

John

PS .... What sort of firearm is that you're carrying there?

u will crack the edge.

WL is correct on this one.

You have too much torque which willl be required and have too little edge on the hole.

Once arcylic cracks, it branches like a spider web.

I even had a DD acrylic crack at the screw thread (and trust me DD uses GREAT Acrylic) , when i didnt even touch the warrenty sticker.

DD replaced it ASAP, but it shows u, u need more edge on acrylic.

Keep the steel top, trust me, unless u stare at your inside 24/7 more then you do so your monitor.

I also have 2 mini shields from Loc Line that have repeatedly had the Lexan replaced because it simply doesn't hold up to the stress over time.

 I think it may be a tricked out SKS.
