My Laing DDC with EK top started making noise yesterday (it was totally quiet) and RPM fell from roughly 1700 to roughly 1400 after more than three years of 24/7 work. What do you think, is it dying on me?

RPM's do not look right at all, is it under volted at all?

Temps are OK (there is one more pump in line, it is a part of a canister filter I have), CPU is heavily overclocked and temps do not go over 41C under load. RPM varies from 1400 (when noise could be heard), up to 1700. When it goes over 1500 noise disappears. Pump is not undervolted; it is connected directly to a 12V Molex connector.

CPU is Socket 939 Athlon x64 4200+ running at 3GHz and 1.425V.

Not undervolted directly connected full 12V DDC? Even initial 1700 sound wrong to me. Shouldn't it be ~ 3700 for 10W version and 4500 for 18W one?

In those general areas, yeah.

Tex, Did you do any sleeving?...If so, make sure you didn't accidentally connect it to the 5V rail on the molex. I've seen that happen before.

I'm very sorry for the mess I've made guys...I'm in for "Moron of the year" award competition and looking pretty good!

It is a fan dying on me (now it dropped to 900RPM) and not the pump!. Pump is doing 3700-3800 RPM and everything is fine. I really have no idea how could I mix those two...12cm fan on 3800 RPM would probably sound like a 707 on take-off.

Thank you all very much! I sincerely apologize.
