Ok I think Fugger meant that the whole thing goes into the plastic shell. But I just found the black cover plate for my 2600k, so yes it comes with one too :)

Hmm..I'm confused, then.
I have one retail chip (a QX9650 that I just sold) that I attached a plastic cover on before shipping it out, but that plastic cover came from an OEM QX9650 I bought recently, and there was another plastic cover close to where I assembled the 2600k (and my only three chips were a retail QX9650, OEM one, and the retail 2600k...

I'm almost 95% sure there was a plastic cover on my 2600k.

If I'm wrong, then that means the retail qx9650 came with a plastic cover and the 2600k didn't...sigh, I don't know...I'm stressing out over a little tiny thing now...I blame my OCD....

Can anyone else confirm that any of their retail 2600k's did not come with covers? If I'm wrong, I profusely apologize :(
