What is the best tool for cutting your tubing? Any tips/techniques suggestions for getting nice clean cuts?

A really sharp knife and a nice flat surface always seems to work good for me...

lots of stuff will work, but I also use the tube cutter. Actually found one at Home Depot for less than you might pay elsewhere.

save your money instead of buying a 5 dollar tube cutter from HD?
Scissors suck for cutting tubing one side is always off. then you have to clean it up with a razor blade or something.

I tried the scissors method once.

Once.

I may as well have just chewed through it.

I use sturdy scissors, hehe. Though they allow me to angle cuts for tight turns.

I recall reading somewhere hint that to get good even cut of tubing with knife one has to insert into tubing some hard rod or tube with similar ID.

I finally broke down and bought a tubing cutter. Well worth it. Especially when using compression fittings and you need that nice straight cut.

I use a utility knife with a fresh blade, just like Sparky. But the blades are those big heavy duty types, and not the old safety blade types. Thats the way to get an clean, even cut.

I heard Chuck Norris cuts tubes with his eye lids.

No, tubing cuts itself on just rumor that Chuck Norris gonna come :)
But still, he never succeeds in liquid cooling. His assembled loops never gets past leak test phase, components are too scared and always wet themselves :)

I suspect recent floods in Aussie land are due to Chuck's leaking res.

I guess it mainly depends on what diameter tubing you are dealing with.

Anything bigger than 1/2" OD you'd probably want to use the tube cutter that others have mentioned. I purchased mine from sidewinders. However, I recently went to a 3/8" OD tubing for my loop and I think I could get away w/ just using normal scissors. But since I already have the tube cutter, I still use it.

I use either a good sharp pair of sewing scissors, or my PVC pipe cutter. Both get the job done.

I dunno about you guys lol. I seriously use one of those regular ol pairs of scissors from home depot that cost 3 bucks. You know those orange handle ones that everyone has in the junk drawer? Cuts 1/2 inch tubing fine for me. Then again I also zip tie everything and wipe off tim off with a shop towel :p

Old cigar cutters work for smaller tubing. Heavy duty scissors are still my fav.

I used scissors when I put mine together. It worked, but I don't really like how it didn't cut straight and it chewed up the ends of the tube.

Nobody else uses a cigar cutter?

Not a bad idea, I have a couple of really cheap ones (I won't use them to cut my cigars... EVER...)

Hi,

Can understand attachment as to the situation, as your backyard
and sure everybody feels the same way.

Bad things happen to good people from time to time all over the world.

But can't see piling on for a comment or statement made with no malice
intended I'm sure.

Lets get back to computers:up:

JMHO;)
