Great watercooling community you guys have here. some of the best info on the web, really.

I have decided the heat produced by an overclocked i7 920 and overclocked GTX460 folding 24/7 is just too much for my room to handle, last summer was extra harsh.

My plan is to piece together a budget "extreme" loop, scouring the FS section for bargains. Heres what I have in mind for parts so far.

Heatkiller 3.0 LC w/Backplate - $35(bought already)
Swiftech MCP35x -$75(bought already)
Swiftech MCR-420QP - $69(Newegg)
2xXSPC GTX460 full cover water blocks($54)
Sunbeam PL-RS-6 Rheosmart 6($30)
8xYate Loon D12SM-12 - $30(bought already)
8xShrouds(from gutted fans, maybe some cardbord and ducttape) - $free
T-line(picked up a micro-res lol) - $13
10x1/2" barbs - $15
10'x1/2" tubing -$10

The "extreme" part of this is that I plan to mount the radiator in the windowsill, using weatherstripping around the edge of the rad and sandwich together some Styrofoam boards and cardboard(not 100% on that) for above the radiator, creating at least some protection from the outside. Obviously the fans will be blowing outwards. The tubing will run from the rad in the window to my Antec P180 that sits below the window.

Most watercooling rigs use 6' at a minimum anyway. Maybe you need to say your rig will have 6' of tubing plus the tubing to the window.

A DDC 3.2 or MCP 35X might serve you better.

The rad you chose is great for the CPU, and will be decent once you add the two 460's. Temps won't be stellar when you overclock and start crunching, but acceptable. Have you determined your DT temps yet for your planned final rig?

Take a read, lots of links, and one for DT.

thanks for the info, I see the head on a DDC3.2/3.25 is a huge jump from a 355.

Right now my cpu sits at ~80*C and 60*C for the GPU, all that heat is being dumped inside a 8'x8' room that heats up quickly, my attempt is to dump all the heat outside of the room, as I can easily hit 100*C on the CPU if I leave the window and door closed for a day.

Thanks for the links, great starting point. honestly im not looking for great DTs just something to avoid heating up the ambient temp to 90*F

MCP355 IS DDC3.2. But yes, 3.25 had nice increase in head over old version, nearing performance of DDC2.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I did run my rad outside my flat window at one stage.
One thing to watch out for is the sun. One day I noticed my temps had gone up by about 15*c, turned out the sun was shining onto the black rad (a rare occurrence in the uk).
My neighbors must have already thought I was weird but when I put a small childs umbrella over the rad with duck tape they must have been thinking WTF?

Yeah my window is facing the north side and is in the shadow of the house for the whole day

86 5.0L: yeah, LC decease takes heavy toll on wallet. I also initially started planning stage with budget build in mind :D
Also interesting nick you have there. AE86 hachiroku with 5.0L engine? That's one Weird beast :)

The Heat Dump into your room won't be any different it will just be exiting the case more efficiently.

nice pump, and When I saw "budget" I laughed

read the sig.

First rule in H20 cooling, never have a budget, unless you want to air-cool!
H20 cooling is addictive and expensive.

I'd guess you can called it the American version of the AE86, lol.

I understand the laws of thermodynamics, which is why Im trying to dump the heat outside of the room, thru the window. :)

yeah, budget was the wrong choice lol, but I got a sleeved MCP35x for $75, I just had to jump on it.

I know, I have an offer for a Feser XChanger 480ER, and I might jump on that too...:shakes:

Gotcha, somehow I missed the 'weather strip' idea. you might as well just run a dryer hose from your aircooled rig out the window but w/e : ) W/c is fun

nice 5.0 lol @ ae86

heres a pic of my non 5.0 ( try 6.4 :D )

Thanks, 65, close enough got most of the parts that make a 66 different from a 65 anyway lol. I love your 4 eye'd stang btw, Trying to get my nephew to get one of those :)
Good Budget decisions btw.

What are you going to do send me junkmail? Some anthrax? :P

Yep, I'll send you anthrax, I think "attack of the killer B's" was my one of my first cassette tapes.

All kidding aside its probably not the best idea to post your info, but hey if you feel safe doing it... go for it.

Oh and congrats on your "budget loop".
My "budget loop" became incrementally more expensive thanks to shinny things that bitspower sells.
