So I put together a new loop after returning my unlocked 6950's

I don't think my temps are okay? (my first custom loop) I expected lower temps on the CPU specially at idle considering on my previous cooling (an H50 p/p 2x R4's) I was @40-42c

HUGE improvement on the GTX 480 temps idle and load.
Air I was idle 42-45c and @800/4000 stock voltage load 84-86c

Now:
temps idle:
CPU: 34-35c 4.2GHz 1.26v LLC enabled
GPU: 31-33c 900/4000 1050mV

temps load:
CPU: MAX 58c
GPU: MAX 50c

Ambient temps: 21-22.5c

Case: HAF-X
Board: RIIIE
CPU: 950

MCR320-QP RAD w/ 3 R4's 2000rpm 19db 90CFM fans
Swiftech MCP35X pump w/XSPC Acrylic top
1/2" Barbs with 1/2" ID 5/8"OD tubing
Switftech Micro Res
Apogee XT Extreme Block
GTX 480 EK Nickel Block
distilled water
current configuration: Pump-> Rad-> CPU-> GPU-> Res

Looks about right to me. The 480 will dump alot of heat into the loop aswell as the cpu. Pretty good temps tbh on a single 360 rad.

Well that's encouraging, thank you! Although I was expecting 30-32c idle on the CPU. I was thinking may be get a larger res or different fans and then add 3 more for pull, 6 r4's p/p would be too loud. As of now I'm using the 2x 200mm cooler master top fans to pull.

Should I change the distilled water to some sort of coolant?

Your temps are fine. They're actually a lot better than mine and I have the same rad surface. Distilled is as good as it gets, no need for coolant. You might want to add some biocide to it, but that's all.

What are your temps? Biocide, I went to petsmart yesterday and they had sooo many water treatments I didn't know which to get? Can you recommend one to use that is sold at my local pet shop or do I have to order online via e-shop? (If possible I'd like to buy it locally) If so which do you recommend? Thanks!

Look for a product called "No more algae" from a company called Jungle. Use no more than 2 drops in your loop. I bought a 8oz bottle back in '04 and I've hardly dented it, I have a lifetime supply at the rate I'm using it.

The biocides you can get from pet stores work great. The only problem with them is that you need to refresh the dosage every couple weeks because they break down fairly quickly. Do yourself a favor and pick up a silver killcoil to throw in your res. Much less hassle in the long run.

thanks again fellas I will pick up the no more algae for now while I wait for the silver killcoil to come in the mail.
