hi all

i'm building a SR-2 system, and got my dual E5620 CPUs
i tried to check them on my GB-X58A-UD3R MB,
i pull out my I7 950,and put one of the Xeon cpus

the system enter to restart loop, and no post.
i called to a friend that told me that the MB doesnt support this cpu.
i checked in the GB site - and is correct

i've 2 question:

1. there is anyway to check my cpu until my SR-2 board will arrive?
2. just to stay clam, the MB didnt damage my E5620, right?

thanks.

Do you have a newish BIOS?

Don't see why that board wouldn't support the chip just fine.

Very few single socket LGA1366 boards support CPU's w/ two QPI's. And Gigabytes don't have any that do.

Based on the results here with the dual QPI six cores, I'd like to think the chips he's trying are compatible.
