Hi all....i have been trying to get a pair of Hitachi 7K250's (2 x 120gb SATA) to run in a raid 0 config. from the Intel southbridge.
With all the correct bios settings and the array built properly, the windows instalation starts, i F6 and it reads in the intel sata drivers, continues with install, then after the first reboot gives me a 'disk read error' and requests a ctrl - alt - delete.
These are brand new drives, tested with no errors individually.....i am thinking a bios issue.......any comments/help pls??
Has anyone got a pair of these Hitachi SATA HDD's running on an IC7 - non G??

Thanks for any help

Did you use the latest Intel Raid drivers (3.50)?
Which bios are you using?

What BIOS settings did you use to set up the RAID? (i know you said they are right, but i need to know).

Did you set the OnChip RAID as the boot drive?

Does the Intel RAID BIOS see the RAID 0 stripe on boot up?

mdzcpa...thanks for taking the time to help.....

my settings.....
On chip serial ata mode - raid
Bootable add in device - on chip sata
drivers loaded using f6 method
The array was built fine using ctl-i and was seen fine.....full format completed ok....starts install, then after 1st reboot....disk read error!!
Very wierd.

Nothing seems wrong off the top of my head. I'll look around some more for you.

you needed the latest Intel RAID Option ROM v.3003 in the bios (not in official bios files yet)

of no use to you now, but may satisfy your curiosity as to why it wasn't working. :)
