I know SB just came out, but i just bought a lynnfeild setup from an XS member. need some help with OCing. Im still an OC noob. i read a bunch of lynnfield OC reviews for tips but still cant find a stable setting. Im looking for a modest 3.6-4.0 OC with some power savings features eneabled. Mainly want it to set the clock and volts down in idle. Turbo would be nice, but i dont need it if im hitting the clocks im aiming for.

so far i have set vcore to 1.25, IMC to 1.2 and dram to 1.65..

so far i have hit 3.5 ish on
167xauto. it hits 3.5 using using the 21 multi. Turbo, EIST and C states all on in bios.

no luck with anything above that.. am i doing something wrong??

whats the diff between EIST and C states..

which is the setting that clocks and volts down during idle.??

using an ASUS v8 cooler, Asus p7p55D Pro board, 4gb of 1600 cas9 gskill mem. 750watt antex trupower new psu.

Well, for starters, what CPU are you using?

Try the 21x multi like you have it, with 1.3v vcore, 1.22v VTT (IMC) and set your ram to 1333Mhz or whatever is low. Basically, you want to take the ram out of the picture for overclocking and then once you have your chip stable, you can bring the ram up to where you need it. If it fails at that point then you know it has something to do with your ram and you can raise the voltage on the VTT, Dimm voltage or loosen your timings, but basically you wouldn't be guessing at what was wrong.

ok ill give this a shot today or tomarrow night and see where it ends up..

which settings are most important to power savings that also effect OC stability the least??

should i be using set vcore or Offset?
