Where do you guys find 20k, 50k, 100k, etc. trimmers? The only ones I can find at Radio Shack (and it's website) is 1k and 10k. I've always had to use 10k fixed resistors in series with a 10k VR to get the above resistance and it just looks gay.

Just look for a local electronics store. My local store has just about every possible trimmer available.

I'm sure they will send you what you need but I'd check for a store nearer you first.

Thx, do I just check with a small electronic repair shop? Is that what you mean? Not sure of any electronic stores outside of RS in my area

Hmmm... dunno really. Maybe lookup "Electronics" in the phone book? (don't know if this is how this type of store is listed though)

I'd try that or maybe that small electronic repair shop can point you in the right direction.

I've also ordered stuff online when I'm not in a hurry.

Do what bowman recommended to me - look on Ebay. Just won a bid for 25 50K ohm cermet pots for hardly any money at all.
Thanks bowman!

You can adjust the resistance between either outer leg and the inner leg. If, for example you have a 5k pot and the resistence is 0 ohms between left leg and center, it will be 5 kOhms between center and right leg. Adjust to 1 kOhm between left and center, you will have 4 kOhms on the other side. The resistance between left and center and right and center will always equal the total value of the pot, you use whichever side is more convenient for you, or turns in the direction you desire.
