I am looking for some good earphones for use with my ipod, the apple ones just dont cut it. Does anyone know of any good ones under $100 (150 max) that would work well with the ipod?

I listen to a wide range of music from great big sea to emerson drive to three days grace to disturbed and need them to sound good with all of these, so the highs need to be good and a decent amount of bass too.

Klipsch Image S4 -In your price range, those are really good.
Skullcandy Titan - Cheaper but also really good.

Best Buy carries both, you can try one and if you hate it, return it and try the other.

The best set of in ears I found in that price range with comparable sound (including HATS testing etc)
to the $200+ sennheiser and shures were the sennheiser CX-300.

Look for reviews and methods of testing to get a good idea of sound quality.
Some of the brands have ridiculous bass which if you really love bass
might suit you, but I generally prefer to go for a natural sound.

I'll tell you what not to get... those damn Beats by Dr. Dre. I had a friend have to bring his back twice because while he was listening to music, the sub-speaker (there's two speakers in there, one main speaker and a sort of subwoofer-thing) decided to break... and with a bang, literally. They made this sort of firecracker snap and then this high pitched scream for a half-second. The store promised that'd never happen again. I guess they meant "from now on" because the ones they gave him as a replacement did the same thing.

I hope you're joking about buying Monster earbuds.....

I would suggest getting Shure e4c's. Here's their old CNET review:
http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/shure-e4c/4505-7877_7-31429517.html
"The bottom line: Shure's E4c earbuds are simply the best in-ear headphones we've ever heard."

They used to be out of your price range, but then they got discontinued and now if you watch eBay you can get them for $50-60.

Ultimate ears.. I worked in the same building as them a while back. Everyone there is super dooper cool. They make custom in ear monitors for bands. While there, i saw alkaline trio, sugar ray and a few otehr bands come in to get fitted. they also make mainstream earbuds.

Their cheapest set are 50 dollar metro fi. i have those and they sound awesome but they do emphasis the bass heavy end of the audio more.

I also have the $300 Triple Fis and these are flippin fantastic. each bud has 3 speakers inside each with a crossover to only play its intended range.

Im sure whatever they have in the 100 to 150 range will be smokin. I htink they have a 2 speaker per bud model.

Back when i got mine they were still on their own. custoemr service was superior.. i cant say now that logitiech bought them.

If you don't like the in-ear type, I recommend Yuin PK3's for fairly cheap buds with good sound.
