Are the standard bag of case screws that come with a case made of aluminum? or?? I need to use one to secure the divider within my reservoir.

Screws are usually made of steel, some are made of brass but it's obvious. It's also usually plated too, the plating is usually advertised on whatever box you bought the screws in. Usually the plating is based on nickel.

Screws that come with your case must be steel screws, as they are cheeper (and stronger too) to make than other metal alloys. You can test them with a screw driver, as most screw drivers are magnetic. If desired, you can get brass crews from a local hardware store but they are usually a lot more expensive.

Only screw drivers with magnetic tips are magnetic. :p: But yes, they are usually steel.

aluminum screws would probably deform too easily to be used for a case

Indeed. The threads could be marred pretty easily.

they are usually steel, thus why its so easy to cross thread an aluminum case ;)

so more than likely its a nickel plated steel screw. So there shouldn't be a corrosion problem having that screw in the reservoir with an all copper block/rad loop?

No but, there will be a rust problem. . .just ask Koolance. ;)

rust is corrosion....

Anything that is bare steel will indeed rust.

rust is corrosion....

It's not galvanic corrosion though.

and the best reason i can come up with is screws aren't much of a wc question

Its an acrylic divider that was held in by an acrylic screw but something ate the screw and the divider fell right off

Xel, this is for the Koolance res? You want M3 x .5. . .preferably made from either brass or 316 Stainless steel.
