View Full Version : 2500+/Nf7s problem
I can't quite figure out why this thing won't overclock. I have a brandnew 2500+ (locked) and a rev 2.0 nf7-s. Both are brandnew without any mods
I also purchaced a stick of 512mb kingston hyperX 3500
So, I set up everything up like this: 1.9vcore / 1.8vdim/1.7nforce chip/ low mem settings just in case. And the thing won't even boot .. I need 1.93v just to boot into windows with 190 fsb! Am I holding the worst 2500+ ever here? Or am I missing something
My setup:
2500+
Nf7s 2
512 pc3500 kingston or 2x256 twinmos pc3200 (same problem)
300W lownoise aopen psu
maxtor 160gb SATA disk
Geforce 2 mx

What stepping did you get? And maybe you shoul consider modding to an MP processor so that you can change the multipliers and perhaps get higher FSB.

do you mean that you can't boot even at stock settings?
I'd look for a new psu imo, 300W is not enough for your setup, i'd say 350 is a min and 440W would be good
ps what cooling are you using?
At default speed everything is ok! But you'd think this combo should be able to hit 200+ fsb .. and uptill now it's stuck @ 190..
I'll try replacing my 300W aopen with a 350W chieftec .. maybe that will help
I'm watercooling the cpu
Stepping? I have no idea.. didn't check it .. It was a boxed cpu and since the MP is locked it must be a week 40+

You need to write down the entire number on the sticker and tell us this.
If locked, you cant change the multiplier setting...dont know what flakiness will come if you try.
Im at 230x10, 11,2,2,cas2 cpuint=enb with mod'd D10s4227 bios with 1GB KHX3500...2x256(slot1,2) and 1x512(slot3) running dual channel. 2x80/8 Maxtors on adapters as SataRAID0, 1.8VVcore, 1.9VVDD (using vmod pot), 3.2VVdimm(using vmod pot), 1.6V AGP (@75Mhz, no fastwrite, yes sidebandaddressing) with a 9700pro.
So with your memory and a 2500+ you should be able to get to at least 210x11, 11,2,2,cas2 cpuint=enb with unmod'd board vcore 1.8V vdd=1.7V vdimm=2.9V setting. Something is amiss. I did the L12 mod on mine....had to to get it to boot at all.... mod'd L12 to force 200Mhz setting, as if it were a 3200+ 200MhzFSB chip.
goodluck
I did exactly what you did. It won''t boot at 210/205/200 not even with 1.95v ...
the screen remains black @ startup
I''ll try to sell this cpu and get one which will be able to get above 2000 mhz :stick:
Where can I find the bios that you''re using?

Try upping the memory and vdd voltage to the max and then try. If it fails then it's probably your CPU which probably won't do 2.2GHz,

what kind of temps are ou getting with your cooling? I doubt it's the cpu that won't do 2GHz, i think the problem is somewhere else, maybe cooling or psu
I'm getting these readings:

Are these voltages ok? Or should I consider a new psu

the voltages seems to be fine, is that the reading at stock? is it idle or under stress?
This is the system idling .. with 180fsb. Should I re-snap the picture while the cpu is stressed?

yes that would be helpful, usually it's when the system is stressed that you see the biggest fluctuation in voltages

not entirely true, i had my rig running just fine for months on a 330 watt enermax, still works and all, i just wanted something quieter so i got my thermaltake
New cpu :)
I've bought a second hand 2500+. This one clocks way higher than the previous one :toast:
But, since yesterday I've got this little problem (see img)
It seems that the cpu won't run at normal speeds although it's set @stock in the bios. My mem scores are waaaaay too low, around 1100mb/s
Cpuid just says it's a 2500+ but when I run pifast the thing is slower than a 1600+
I've tried reinstalling windows, flashing the bios and everything else I could imagine .. but Ã:banana:t's still slow as sh*t !
