Tweaked!

Ok, since no one has created anything like this yet, I thought I'd try to get something started to help our peeps out that want to learn about photochopping and other stuff. So, since that's what I'm in the process of trying to do (learn photoshop), I figured I'd post up some links as I come across them. Please feel free to add to this if you know of anything else that would also make it easier or help in the learning process. :)

I remember I used a ton when I was just learning, but that was a couple years ago. Once you get the basics down, just spend a lot of time messing around, you'll pick up stuff as you go along.

btw, doing those wacom tuts is much easier when you have a wacom... (sucks to be you guys... :p: :D)

Here are the sites I regularly visit for Photoshop tutorials:

You can pretty much get any tutorial around these two sites as you can submit links to tutorials on other sites, so these are sort of like indexes
GoodTutorials - http://good-tutorials.com/
Pixel2Life - http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/Adobe_Photoshop/All/

There three following are great for getting started in Photoshop!
Inside Graphics - http://www.insidegraphics.com/photoshop/default.asp
Mark's Photoshop Tips - http://www.marksphotoshoptips.com/
Photoshop Support - http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials.htm

Here are some of my favourite tutorial sites:
Blue Sfear - http://www.bluesfear.com/tutorials.php
Depiction - http://www.depiction.net/tutorials/photoshop/
FotoFects - http://fotofects.com/categories/Tutorials/Adobe-Photoshop/
GreyCobra - http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials.htm
Phong - http://phong.com/tutorials/
PhotoshopCAFE - http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials.htm
PlanetPhotoshop - http://www.planetphotoshop.com/tutorials.html
Spoono - http://www.spoono.com/photoshop/
Tutorial Vault - http://www.tutorialvault.net/index.php?act=tutorials&category=Adobe%20Photoshop

some very good video tutorials on Photoshop and some Illustrator by Burt Monroy at
http://revision3.com/pixelperfect/

I think the larger Quick Time videos are best to see the detail.

Other stuff on Revision3 is worth a look.

Has anyone used Gimp a lot. I've heard good things compared to Adobe Photoshop without the price. Will most of these tutorials allow me to do the same type of editing with Gimp? Thanks.

I used the gimp for a number of years and there is no doubt in my mind it is an excellent program. It does everything photoshop does, perhaps not quite as extensively (especially when it coems to brushes) however I found that some of gimps filters are better and often find myself going back into gimp just to use a filter.

Photoshop is, in my opinion, the better program but the GIMP is nonetheless amazing ESPECIALLY considering it is freeware

Guys, this goes best if you know what you want to learn to do in Photoshop, youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com/) :D and when I can't find the features in Photoshop, I use google image search, because they show screenshots of the panels ^^

I don't have any experience with Gimp, but for unusual editing, IrfanView and MS-Paint are good enough programs for me. IrfanView has ok good filters, and is good to change the hue, saturation and contrast.

Back to my original question about gimp. I found some great video tutorials at this site http://meetthegimp.org/. Some of the videos are for older versions but if you search around, you can find the same features in the new menu format.
