Is gold, like a gold plated block bad in a modern WC loop?

I say no. Please solve this for me, for another forum.

I say nope.

It should be fine

Gold is one of the most inert metals.

Gold is pretty darn low on this... you're not going to get the crazy galvanic corrosion aluminum can give.

Ever-so-slightly depends on which alloy of gold it is, if it's yellow you'll be fine, green, red, blue fine. Purple not.

But being on a waterblock chances are it's either 24ct, or 18ct, or (less likely) 9ct yellow gold. Fine gold (that's 24ct) is so non-reactive that there's no need for flux when soldering, it's great  but too soft for regular wearing

Nothing wrong with gold plating - it's a common solution to preventing corrosion on more reactive metals, as long as abrasion/wear isn't an issue. Koolance plated all their copper with gold back in the day to help compensate for their aluminum radiators.

its ok to have gold in there but it wont provide any cooling benefits.
